Could it be a VSS . I thought it was something to do with just first and second but today it definitely just kept up shifting then would almost stall then would down shift. No CEL though
See if you can get ahold of a scanner that will check for pending codes. Stack shifting is what it’s doing.

First thing I would do is yank the MAF out and replace it with a new one, 160k is the tipping point on them and it could be the cause of your shifting problem. certainly cheaper than doing anything with the transmission

I'm just curious why it goes away after 10 minutes. I will check out the maf because I really don't want to swap trans

could be the element in the maf reaches a certain temperature and decides to work right, I have seen the MAF cause all kinds of shift problems more than a couple times, especially at 160k or more that's right when they commonly take a shit. it's a gamble but at 160k it should be replaced anyway

I just bought the o'l lady a 05 with 154k on it and while I was driving it a couple weeks ago it decided to do a bucking bronco jerk and miss shift on me I knew right away it was probably the maf, slapped a new one on and it hasn't done it again, her 04 was doing all kinds of weird shit it would shift real slow or it would act like it was slipping when you tried to pass someone and same thing put on a new MAF and it hasn't even blinked once in the 2 years since. I thought for sure it was taking dump I had already done a major tune up on it and the only thing I had not already replaced was the maf, sometimes they throw a code and sometimes they don't, they can also go bad and cause a lean code or make the idle or throttle do all kinds of weird shit, the transmission shift's are dependent upon the throttle position and other things if the air ratio is wrong it just doesn't work right
