Has anyone installed their own heated seats?

What was involved? Was the wiring between the door and seat already there or do you need to remove the door panel to run the wires to the seat?

My dealer wants $635 to install. I found the kit on GMPD for $290. Just wondering of the extra cash is worth it to have them install it + it would be covered under the warranty.

I've seen in done before in other communities I've been involved with in terms of aftermarket kits.

If it was me, I would have the dealer install it because then you'll know its done right and the kicker is having the warranty to go with it. That's just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards that way but just trying to get all the info. :)

You can get the kit off the net for $399 which includes the factory door swithces. Probably even cheaper off gmpartsdirect.

Not sure how it installs but it probably comes with directions.

Just got a Tahoe and am considering adding the heated seats. Just wondering if the OP ended up tackling the install or just having the dealer do it. Also, was the $600+ for the parts and labor or just the labor?

Thanks

Must not be anyone on the forum that has done the install. I checked with my dealer and they would match gmpartsdirect's price on the kit (~$300). For the parts & Labor (after tax) they wanted around $650. Think i'm going to pass for now. Hopefully someone will shed some light on what needs done for the install, and hopefully it is an easy job that I could do myself.
