Engine type - where to find??

Can someone help me find how to confirm my engine model? I don't see it on the manifold or anywhere...02 Tahoe

Thanks! I have a Z so tht's the flexfuel 5.7 v8 as I understand

If the 8th digit is a V, you have the 4.8 liter engine.

If the 8th digit is a T, you have a 5.3 liter non flex fuel engine.

If the 8th digit is a Z you have a 5.3 liter flex fuel engine.

Yea, the flex fuel means that the truck can run on either regular gas or E85.

I have a flex fuel engine and didn't even know it. That being said, I don't plan on running E85 anytime soon.

Anytime E85 is more than .20 cheaper than gas, I use it.

There's a part you can buy called the "Replicator" which will eliminate the FlexFuel sensor that is used for modifying air/fuel mixture when driving on e85. I'll post a thread about this part but it can also increase gas mileage 1.5mpg

using E85 I thought was cheaper, but you got less MPG?

Youre right in the long run, you might or might not end up spending more on E85. It depends on how you drive.

I tend to come out ahead. Yes I lose 3mpg versus regular gas, but I think its a good trade off. However, I do think we need a different soucre for ethanol than corn. Brazil has sugar based ethanol.
