I want to do the 2500 bull nose hood and grill style next for my 01 NBS. I've read that I would need to trim 1" off to fit over the stock bumper OR get the entire HD bumper as well. I also read here in earlier posts that you only need to change the bumper cap with the 45"-50" lower section that runs under the grill from a 2500. Can anyone CONFIRM that? and what years are valid donor trucks for the hood, grill and cap for a 2001? I think it's only 01 and 02's because I think the 03-06 have the "cat-eye headlamps" which change the hood and possibly the grill and bumper cover. Thanks in advance!

You are correct about the donor years. I did the swap to my 03. I just did the HD hood and grill--no cap. I did trim about 1" from the bottom of the grill, and a mounting tab from behind the grill.

I have kind of a how-to on my build thread.

Was thinking of you today @Tonyrodz, was gonna ask you about the hd grille. Instead of trimming the grille couldn't you just trim the bumper cap, and just let it sit pass the cap or that wouldn't work.

Honestly I never thought about it. I guess it would depend on how thick that upper pad is, for it to get that 1" you need to cut off the bottom of the grill--for everything to line up.

Stock denali exhaust is 3" the whole way right?
I am pretty sure that is the case on my caddy. The y pipe looks much better than the lower optioned trucks too. Not sure how much of that is LQ9 specific. I believe it is very similar to my old denali.

Well my NNbs Powerstop z23 brake upgrade arrived today. About to get to putting it on my 04 z71. Looks beefy I'm hoping it will improve the braking.

Nice. What pads are you going with? The z23 pads as well? What calipers? Brake lines? Might as well replace those while your in there.

I got the whole kit minus brake lines. It has a performance calipers cross drilled and slotted 13 inch rotors and carbon ceramic something brake pads that come with it. I am going to go to oreillys and just replace the lines with new ones I guess not sure. I just thought about the lines today.

Or can you just us a bumper cap for an HD instead since it's got that space there already?

There was a guy here who put the HD cap on his bumper. I don't remember who did it tho. I've never taken mine off so I don't even know what it looks like under there.

Any suggestion on decent ones that won't break the bank?

The HD cap is not lower in the middle like it appears. Its actually taller on the sides. Very deceiving as I thought I could fit the grill as long as I did the HD cap at the same time. I was wrong and ended up dropping the bumper 1.5".

He just missed a complete new set of fronts and rears in the classifieds.
Dang figures. Bought the wife a new jeep wrangler a few months back and been dropping all the money into that lately. But my burban needs some love now. Thanks for the heads up though.
I used russels. Stoptech also makes good ones.
Ok any idea what length I'll need on the lines?
