My drivers seat made a loud pop today and the right side, closest to the console, seems to have failed. There is significant movement backward and forwards. I have not investigated yet but apparently something snapped? I was planning on recovering the seat, but now I think I might need to find a replacement and recover that.
Questions:

Has anyone experienced this issue? I am assuming structural failure.

Are seat frame pieces available?

If I go the replacement route what years interchange with 2005? If I find one I would have it recovered as the chances of finding a good one this stage are slim.

Thanks in advance!

not entirely sure on the seats but 03-06 may be interchangeable provided the seat comes out of a vehicle with the same trim level, at any rate you should be able to use one out of a chevy or gmc and possibly escalade, you can always call your local junkyard and they usually can verify the crossover years. As for what broke, no telling without a closer look these seats usually have a spring system under them and a support bar and the bottom brackets, etc could be anything

I have the drivers seat bottom structure off an 04 cadillac escalade if you wana buy it for $20 plus shipping
@Danzigman , This should fit your truck! All the 2003-2006 trucks and SUVs shared the same seat structure. It then is just a matter of what options the seat has added to to it. If your 2006 seat is leather power adjust able and/or heated the 2004 seat structure he has should work in your truck.

That is what I have, but I am unsure if it is the bottom structure that failed or the back..

Normal

are you sure you did not exceed the the 250 pound limit? after 250 pounds you risk slipping the gears or worm or teeth on it (had this happen before from someone that weighted 260)
as soon as they got in the gear teeth slipped and damaged the seat (yeah i was not happy as i just bought it) on my old car

They only have to meet the FEDERAL requirement of a steel folding chair

You must have done something to break it
these seats can hold a 700 pound person

A GMT400 in which case it can HOLD over 700 pounds or 5 people "equivalent" in one seat
(skip to 4:20)

more then likely the spot where it broke rusted out

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Right!

Can you imagine the marketing nightmare if it was true that GM, Ford and Ram only designed truck seats to hold 250# when a major part of their demographic are big guys?

Never mind the load they have to handle in an accident like when you get rear ended.

lol, for whatever reason this just made me think of this old suitcase commercial

I chalk mine up to being 16yrs old and a little thing called wear & tear.

What the hell is that video? The seat is 14 years old, it will not last forever. Thanks for your useless reply.

Not sure if it is the bottom I need or not. I will let you know once I investigate more.
I would just get a good flashlight and poke around under the seat that's how I found mine having the broken brace on the bottom, I managed to push it back into place for now but I need a new seat bottom for mine and have been looking for one with the same color material, probably going to have to take the whole seat apart to fix it so I haven't been to enthused to do it yet, lol
