I bought the truck just to get me through Winter, and now that it's Spring, I no longer have a use for it

I'll pick up another one around September again :p

they're fun little project vehicles that I can work on while the car is in storage to avoid salt and bad drivers

Rear window refused to roll up. Had to take apart the door and push it back up until an assembly gets here to replace. When going down I can hear it eating plastic. Sure enough there plastic on the bottom of the door. Guess the 15 year old motor got hungry.

My rear door window motor assy. failed..... Dealer price to replace was a STUPID PRICE. I went to O'Reily's auto, and got a complete assy. for $80. Lifetime guarantee. Took a bit over an hour to replace.

Rear temp actuator failed. Stuck on hot. Removed panel an actuator cover. Then I pulled the gear shown in hand and moved the door to cold and reinstalled. Don’t want to spend any money lol

I finally got the title and registration to the Tahoe put in my name today after 4 months. Then UPS made a heavy drop. Now if the boys at FTI will put my torque converter back together and ship it from Florida to Oregon I might start putting The Beast back together. Man I miss driving a blown 6.0.

Yeah I agree. I was calling a local dealer of the XD wheels to see if they had a black bolt and washer set I could just buy but the guy had a great idea. Said to call Fastenal that they had all the black boots and washers there. So I'll go by Monday and grab some. I don't think me painting them will stay very long so better off this way.

On another note anyone know a really good wheel cleaner safe for matte wheels? The guy before has let the brake dust kinda set in to the wheels no matter how hard a scrub them they always look dirty.

2004 Z71 Suburban Green I have a few upgrades done.

That's a damn good idea.

As far as the cleaner goes, I've had very good results with cheap old dollar store oven cleaner. Spray it on, wait till the foam starts to dissipate, then rub it off with a wet rag, spray off the remaining with water, then wash the wheel with soap and water.

Works great!

Dang ok I ordered this product called rage from superior products yesterday. I am gonna try this stuff out and if it doesn't work then I will give this a go.

Oh and the black bolts should be here tomorrow but I am having no luck on the black washers at all. I went by Home Depot and they didn't and now I may have to just paint the washers myself I guess.

What’s done the trans? I need to start saving or find a core to build. I want to do hood rat stuff without a bunch of neutrals

The trans is a Performabuilt level 3 “ invincible” built for 900 HP that I somehow managed to grenade. They just rebuilt it under warranty.

I want to build the 4l60. I think it can handle a n/a 6.0 if the right parts are installed. Not sure if a 80e swap will be cheaper

A well built Transmission doesn't usually fail on it's own. Something outside the guts could have killed it.

It got too hot often.
Running low pressure.
Failed pump?
Torque Converter fail?

Issues as these, could have been a problem, and you may have not noticed in time.

If you drive aggressively or tow a lot, ALWAYS SMELL THE FLUID !!!!

Since I put the 3500 stall in, my trans temps are up 20 degrees. I have the factory tiny cooler outside the radiator. I don’t really beat on my truck but when I want it to go I want it to go. Lol.

Never got hot once. New trans, built for 900 hp, pressure was good. New 3 disc billet converter rated for 1200 HP, just opened up and checked by FTI. No issue there. May have been the pump, Im trying to find out from Performabuilt what exactly they replaced other that “it grenaded”. Whatever it was, it was pretty violent and happened under full converter lockup at WOT in an AWD launch with a blown and crammed 6.0 that I’ve never dyno’d. Damn trans locked up enough to kill the engine even after I shifted to neutral. It sure was fun though. Oh, and I drive REAL aggressively.;)

I used to live in Marin County ( across - North of Golden Gate Bridge)....

I used to see guys in trucks drive through "rain water"... not remembering it was flooded salt water.

Real smart.
