3” Lift opinions

Anyone running or have opinions on a 3” lift, angles, with or without after market control arms? Is there a right way to run the 3” without potential issues? Had been looking at RC 3.5” but not impressed by reviews.

Opinions appreciated.

I believe at 3” lift you really need to look at a front diff drop as well to keep the cv angles more proper. Something to keep in mind.

Then do you just go 4” with a complete all-encompassing Kit—front crossmembers, etc?

3" of lift is the max that you should go without having issues. Get a shock like a Rancho rs7000mt which will give you 2" of lift and extra shock travel , then add a 1" spacer to the front , then a 1.5 spacer in the rear . Change the rear shock to a bilstein 5100 to support that extra rear lift . That's my recommendation for a proper lift on a budget , with quality products .

Are you referring to a Rancho adjustable front shock 0
Or just a 2 inch longer shock?

The Rancho rs7000mt I mentioned gives you a 2" lift , its 2" longer also . The 9000 series has 2" of lift and adjustable dampening.

I'd recommend the bilstein for the front , but they require you to use your oem spring seat , and it wouldn't come off of my old strut and I had to return it .
Check 4wheelparts.com , I've found that 4wp has the best prices , and they have a tire sale right now also .

You can get either , but what i was thinking of was a top mount for the front and a bottom mount for the rear . Supreme or suspension maxx Maxx stack

So basically this bilstein with a 1.5” spacer top mount? This was the bilstien listed for the 2017 Tahoe. 0 to 1.6” lift.

The bilstein 5100 front strut gives you up to 1.6" lift
The rear doesn't give you a lift , just an extra 1" of piston travel which will be good if you lift the rear.

I had trouble with the front bilsteins , it requires that you use the OEM spring seat , and mine was welded on and I couldn't remove it , which is why I recommended the rancho rs7000mt. The rancho also gives you 2" lift and it comes with the spring seat so you wont have the same issue I had .

I have noticed you can buy rear shock extenders from Readylift to accommodate the 1-1.5” in rear. I also have the max to package so not sure that is an issue in rear?

Better off changing the whole shock . Those Bilsteins are better than oem , and are Like $75 each free shipping , itll be a performance upgrade for $150 .

Yup , looks good . If you're going for the 3" lift then you should get the 1" front spacer and a 2" rear spacer .
A 1.5 rear spacer will have you perfectly level, but I'd personally go for the 2" which will give you an ever so slight half inch of rake which is the best thing , especially if you plan on driving with a little bit of load from time to time .

Supreme may only have 1.5" as the lowest in the front , if not then check suspension maxx , doesn't matter which brand as long as its metal/aluminum, but this is what it looks like . Even walmart has it on their site .

Really appreciate all the help iras1976! Need to do some more research on the rear set up. I currently have the rear leveling shocks that came with the max towing package. Would like to maintain that function by just adding a rear block, but not sure that’s possible.

Anyome know if any other mods have to be done on rear if adding a taller rear block wirh auto leveling?
