Well, I am leveled out at about 13 mpg on E85. That's mostly back country road driving. 12' Denali xl 4wd. At $2.05/gallon recently, I'm not upset at all with that. The Shell stations around here have 89 octane, and 93 octane. Man the 93 is really spendy! I'm not supposed to run less than 91 in my 6.2L. So E85 has been a great option!

E85 is around $2.80 a gallon out here in Socal.

91 is around $3.80 a gallon

So I don't mind saving $23 give or take for a fill up but I do notice i'm filling up sooner on E85.

I really need to sit down and do all the numbers to see if it is really worth it in the long run

Yes. Cents/mile is the answer.

Well the station locally that carried e85 decided he isn't carrying it anymore. That's the only reason I would go to that filthy station. Dangit! I haven't seen it anywhere eles.

Road trip 246 miles at a mostly constant 78mph, A/C off, ethanol sensor showing 71% used 14.82 gallons. I'll post results from the return trip soon

Return trip was hotter, 85* vs 70 so I used the A/C for about half the trip. Alcohol content went down to 67.8 but the commanded AFR stayed at 9.76. Drove 218.1 and used 15.0 gallons.

That's pretty cool Lance, how many cents a mile now for those two legs? Mine on E85 gets 13.6 MPG @ 75 MPH with an 80% Alcohol Content during testing; the average of multiple 6-8 mile runs.

From my use around town and on road trips, can't really make much of a case for it. Might be saving a little but you really haveto be careful on the throttle.

$1.81 is the best price in my county now. Some stations are real proud of their E85 though and are offering it for $2.83 a gallon. In the next county, there's a station asking $3.62 a gallon!

I drove from CO to PA to see my family for Christmas. I ended up finding E85 here in PA. With being at sea level, having a blackbear tune, AND running E85, I can't keep from spinning the rear wheels, no matter how light I touch the gas pedal. I would get many tickets if I lived here, haha. My 6.2 feels awesome in CO, but here in PA it is more like a rocket!
When I run E85 in CO, it still is faster than 91 octane. I drive 5 miles to work, and get 13mpg on 91, and 9mpg on E85.

...9mpg on E85.

That's the factory rating, same as one of my daughter's classmates with his father's Yukon Denali too. If you haven't driven back home, drive safe!

Mine is really like the E85 and the cooler weather too! Not enough power to bust the KO2s loose from a dig but fun nonetheless.

I average 9mpg on E85 in town and on this latest trip over the Grapevine I averaged about 14mpg doing 75-80mph most of the drive. With a few strategic blasts above that stay away from crawlers. Lately I can get E85 between $2.43 and $2.79. But my XL definitely likes the corn better.

Coming back from the movies this evening I noticed the E85 price at the Mobil station near me dropped from $1.849 to $1.649. My gas gauge was right on the 1/4 tank line so I stopped and filled up. Took 20 gallons. I watched the ethanol % gauge on the way home and it went from a previous 64.7, up to 69, then to 71, back to 69, and seemed to settle back at 64 by the time I got home.

Did you ever run E30?

I just paid $1.799 for E85. Noticed that this particular station also has E30 so I may try that for a couple of tanks, it was $1.99 per gallon, about what 87 is around here.

I see my alcohol content do that too, sometimes for a few days if I don't drive it too much but more than the manual suggests after refueling.

BUMP!! ^^^^

On another note, I was reading the install guide for the Magnuson Supercharger and it says not use E85 at all, stick with 91+ octane gasoline. Do they run little injectors or are the parts not friendly with ethanol? That kind of kills it for me wanting one. I poked around Whipple and Edelbrock's websites but didn't find any similar admonition.

you need larger injectors for corn, and the boost, so what ever injector they offer in the kit is likely to small.

im sure you can get larger injectors and tune for corn with the sc regardless what the install directions say.
