Hi Guys. I’ve read the posts about changing the bulbs but this is different. My gauge lights and HVAC Lights all failed the other day. I replaced the headlight switch even though it still dims the odometer and lights in the buttons in the doors. The new switch didn’t fix the problem. Do any of you smart guys know of a fuse or wire that is common to all thes lights?

Do your interior lights work?
Yes! Also, I took the cluster to the speedo repair shop here in town. It lights up perfectly on his bench. I tried using a test wire to each of the ground pins on the harness at the back of the cluster (A12 and B12)...did not make the cluster light up. Then I took a test wire from 12V+ to the red wire (A11), and it lights the cluster.

Still don’t know what broke to make it fail along with the HVAC lights but I’m making progress. I’d still love to hear any ideas you guys have.

Ok, so for me, after a new switch didn’t work I ended up foing into the back of the LP box using the schematic for the wires and literally reseating everything. It sucked. When I was done, I had all,of my dash lights working. Unfortunately I still don’t have my interior lights on, makes no sense, no poser coming out of the harness. I love GM.

My cluster lights still don't work. I have hooked them to the switched ignition red wire behind the radio to test and they worked fine while putting it all back together and for a couple start ups after that. A few hours later when I jumped in the truck to go somewhere, the lights didn't work and the radio won't power on. Anyone have any idea what relay could be going bad or fuse could be blown (I can't find any blown) to cause this? Radio tests fine outside of truck and I put an old radio in there for now...it has powered on a couple times at random but most of the time doesn't work, even after I removed the gauge light lead from the red radio wire.

It's a 2005. This was the latest in a never ending stream of problems. We went to a couple dealers in town last week and looked at the Expedition ELs but the back row and leg room are too small for my teenagers. We bought a 04 XL Denali on Saturday so I'm taking the old 05 XL to a shop and then selling it! I love the Denali. I'm still open to fixing the 05 myself but I have no ideas.

I hate to say it, but in the long tin, taking it to the dealer is cheaper than buying a new truck.
