I finally received my 22's back from my powder coater, Orbit Industries here in Lubbock, and was able to get the tires mounted and the new setup installed at the house this weekend.

I had stock GMC 20's, but purchased these OEM 22's and the Nitto A/T's off of eBay for very reasonable prices. Also bought a new set of TPM sensors from GM Parts Direct, and haven't had any issues with those yet.

Wheels are 22x9 and the Nitto's are 285/50/22 (33x11.5)

Running a 2.5" Suspension Maxx leveling kit on the front w/ a 1.5" coil spacer in the rear. The new tires added a good solid inch to the overall height, and coupled with the leveling lift, the truck has an awesome stance. After driving a lifted HD crew cab Sierra for three years, it's nice to have a truck that looks fairly aggressive, but still fits in the garage! Need to do light trimming on some of the fenderwell plastic in a couple of spots to eliminate potential for rubbing, but nothing major.

The wife already wants me to re-install the side boards, but I like it better without 'em and I've got a nice crate with a rope she can carry with her to get in.

The lighting in these pics don't do the truck justice, and I'm extremely satisfied with how these turned out. I just thought I'd get some outside feedback and show another powder coat example for any of y'all who might be considering powder coating your wheels.

I appreciate the info from you guys in other threads that helped towards my decision on this particular setup.

Found them on GM Parts Direct Site. Part # is coming up as WK534. Try link below:

I bought mine off eBay, as they were brand new takeoffs from a wheel dealer. I wouldn't reccommend buying directly from a GM store or site, as you'll end up paying out the ass, since GM has always been WAY too proud of their factory wheels in my opinion.

I know I'm in the minority of members who've removed their running boards, but I've personally never been a big fan of side steps, nerf bars, running boards, etc. I've been rather surprised there aren't more people who remove them, but of course, to each his/her own. Looks more like the 4WD that it is without them IMO.

I've looked into the Amp Research Retractable steps, and may consider those on down the road, but looking to install a new air intake and exhaust first.

Looks good and I like it with no running boards. I would take mine off also but I use it quite a bit when camping, plus they help block debris coming off the tires.

That is the exact size I would liek to run. But I only want to do a 1.5" front level. Do you think I would have rubbing issues with just that setup?

Even with the 2.5" spacer in the front, I need to trim a couple of small areas in the fender well front and back on both front wheels. I can turn full radius without rubbing (it's very close), but if I hit an incline while turning at certain degrees my tires rub in a couple of spots. Probably going to trim a bit and then heat up the fender well pastic and try to reshape it slightly in those areas. It's nothing major, but enough to be an annoyance and definitely won't be worth a damn off the pavement until I trim it up.

I would assume you would have the same issue if you run the same wheel and tire size with a 1.5" font spacer. I definitely like the 285/50/22's though, as they give you probably the largest amount of sidewall on a 22" wheel without stepping up to a 35" tire, which would require at least a 4" lift I would think. I'm much more familiar with lifts on pickups, so I've been having to relearn since this is my first Yukon.

I agree with the benefit of blocking debris, but luckily these larger tires don't stick out at all from the fender wells, so hopefully it won't be too much of an issue. I had a set of 35x13.5 X-terrains on the HD I owned before the Yukon, and those things stuck out and threw crap up all the time.

I asked the wife if she wanted me to re-install them, and she actually agreed she likes it better without 'em. I guess if momma's happy and I'm happy, then why change a good thing? :happy107:

Thanks for the compliment. I've driven Sierras and Silverados for the past 12 years, and always removed the chrome plastic trim on the sides, but over time received my fair share of door dings from jackasses in parking lots. I figured since I was blessed with body-colored moldings this time, I'd just leave them and avoid damage from the Blue-haired ladies and their shopping carts. However, I do like the look some of the forum members have with the moldings removed. Maybe I'll take 'em off.

I already have a black chrome speed grille insert and matching lower valance insert. I painted the chrome parts on the hood and grill red. What else are you saying I should black out?

SW CT,
Looks really good...I run without steps too and am willing to take a couple nicks to the rocker for the added clearance.

I like it a lot!!!....

Take InTruckDesign's lead and trim up your front air dam. It'll give you a little extra clearance and won't get caught up on things and ripped off as easily. It'll also help balance the look of truck--especially without the running boards!

I agree. Just looked at one of his threads with his air dam pictured, and it looks really good.

Victory - looks great!

Sophomore - I've got the wheels sitting in my garage (wrapped in 305/45/22" tires) awaiting install tomorrow. If there's anything specific you want off them, drop me a line.

Looks good. Undercoat your wheel wells so that they look clean since so much of them is exposed now. What about the black chrome look tubular steps???
