Level kit or small lift?

New to this forum, ive been searching and reading tons of threads on here lots of great info.

Im looking to do either a level kit or small lift and either 33s or 35s on my 07 suburban LTZ

most important to me is I keep the ride decent and not too rough, little to no rubbing, and I dont stress any front end parts too much.

not really looking for the super aggressive huge lift and huge tire look, but something a little more low key... although I think the huge lifts look cool I just dont want that much attention lol.


Would 17s and 33s with a level kit look weird in your opinion? like little skate board wheels?

or should I just keep stock 20s and do 33s with level kit?

other option (if it will fit) would be 17s with level kit and 35s and maybe have to trim a little or get like a -6 offset


which would you guys choose? any info is very much appreciated, thanks

my 05 avalanche had 33s with wheel spacers and I believe no leveling kit, stock 17in wheels and it didnt rub at all

LTZ has a nice suspension for a great ride, I'd just level it and run the stock size rubber on the 17s. Found this on the net, looks nice. I think those are 20s from a later model GMC.

That one doesnt look bad, I am looking to definitely go larger than stock on the rubber. At least 33s, 35s would be cool but wondering if it can be realistically done without a larger 6-8inch lift

Ya im going to just level it. Can someone suggest a good priced quality level kit for 07 without autoride, and also what spacers for rear? If there is a specific level kit that will work well with the bilsteins that would be great.

so hoping total it will be 2.5 in front and not stressing anything, then 1.5 rear.


my local Les Schwab said with a 2in level kit installed they could fit "33s" which were actually 32.6in x 11.5 cooper Hybrid AT/MT. Thats with my stock 20in wheels and no trimming

So on paper Im guessing that I could fit 35s with pro comp 17s -6 offset, since the wheel size is 17in instead of 20in. The r20 tires are same price as 17in wheels with r17 tires

Pretty sure you're not going to clear 35's on a lift/level.

I was on a CCM 2.5"/1" Kit and had to trim to clear 285/65r18's on my stock offset rims. Not saying you can"t completely, just going to have some trimming and a Cali Fender Mod on your hands.

33's honestly do not look bad and will make your transmission and gearing much happier

My Suburban with said lift and 33's along with my Escalade also on 33's.

I was actually in the same dilemma, i ordered the TGC 2.5 leveling kit haven't installed it but now want to go with a 6 inch lift instead so i can fit 35s been eyeing the BDS 6 inch suspension lift.

6in always seemed like a lot to me, but actually its not that outrageous.. 12-14inch lift is getting kinda crazy.

Do you guys think with a 3.5inch lift, and a -6 offset the 17s and 35s would possibly fit with minor trimming?

I added a CCM 2.5"/1" leveling kit on a stock '07 Tahoe LTZ and was able to fit Toyo M/T 275/65R20s. I initially has minor rubbing which was eliminated with minor trimming. If I had to do it over again, I'd go 275/60R20.

The pictures are in order: 1. stock; 2. after leveling kit install; 3. with new tires

Might be a dumb question but if my 07 burban is stock 20inch wheels and I go down to 17s with 305/65/17s and a negative offset is that going to add stress to tranny or any other parts?

the truck was designed to run 20inch wheels but the previous years all came with 17s

The OEM 20" vs 17" is just an option/package from the dealer. GM didn't upgrade transmissions based on wheel package. 305s is a common size, just don't drive like you stole it and periodically keep an eye on the transmission temp if you're concerned.
