Thanks for all the advice fellas I really appreciate it, I'm probably not going to attempt the swap until we move so I can try and do it in a nice warm garage...there's no way my neighbors will go for an engine swap in the street or parking lot
In the mean time, I'll keep looking for a mechanic who's not out to **** me...this is way above my skill level unless I can find someone to help me with a lot more knowledge than me

Look at all these neighbors chiming in with helpful advice! I know there's still a few more of your neighbors that post on this here forum who haven't chimed in yet too. Get half of them together on a Saturday and you can knock this out in no time. Offer to feed them and they'll come.

There's a lot of good guys on this forum who have helped me big time with problems and offered advice who are far more knowledgeable than I am... for that I thank you all!
I would love to get half these guys together to help me out...I would have my wife(the chef) cook a huge Italian dinner and have her hot friends serve tons of beer!!!

Man...After being on this forum for months...I am just now finding these build pages! After reading your last few threads though I kind of got sad missing NY. I grew up in Bronxville and used to work at the old GM factory in Tarrytown. I used to see the old bridge every day. Going to the Nanuet mall was a BIG deal back in the day!

Thanks...since april BUT....I have seven different pages open in my browser 100% of the time with every sub forum of the 00-06 group. I am constantly refreshing every hour or so looking for new stuff and was always a little down that there wasn't that much happening. Now I am excited all over again! I have been obsessing the last six months. I don't want to hijack this thread and will start my own but after spending at least 300 hours reading I can't say thank you enough for all that everyone has contributed here!

There's lots of great build threads on here...but be forewarned, you may get bitten by the mod bug after reading some of these crazy builds and find yourself broke lol
I'm originally from the Bronx but we just recently sold our house and moved up to my wifes' old condo in Yonkers(sucks)...we're about 5 minutes from Bronxville right now and trying to sell the condo as well so we can go buy a big house far away from the city lol
The old bridge is being taken down section by section everyday...not gonna miss that eyesore one bit...never been to the nanuet mall...don't even know where that is lol
Oh yeah, yonkers huh? I took my road test for my CDL starting in cross county mall then up by the racetrack down central onto the deegan and back around.....My wifes family is mostly from there and she moved up to Canada where we are now when she was 6.
Next time im working in scarsburg(dale) ill meet up with you for that rear cover....been working in Greenwich lately, same type of people only much more richerer....lol
@drowssap @Cattivo I've got a pic of the TZ from the middle of the old GM plant side in tarrytown its all fenced off and locked up but someone cut the lock one day.......hmmm i wonder who.....lol

We're right by cross county(the zoo)...I absolutely hate it around here! traffic sucks, the neighborhood sucks, school buses suck! lol
The old GM plant is gone, they're building condos there right now...I see and hear F18 jets all day long going up and down the Hudson...I'll see if I'm allowed to take pics of the old TZ bridge being taken down by huge cranes, not sure if I am after signing a homeland security consent form
