Everyone’s definition of ‘barely broken in’ is different. Is 20k barely broken in? Mine has 20k and it’s only depreciated $10k from the selling price.

20k is barely broken in. Even still The dealer would laugh you out if you expected 55k for trade in. Mine is a mid model year 2015 Denali XL Fully loaded and id be surprised if I could fetch 35 grand realistically at trade in. Not that it’s all about money and not trying to come across as rude although at Times I do just saying a denali has lost a lot more than 10 grand in a year and a half.

True. I’d probably get maybe 50k.

You’re entitled to your opinion by I’ll take KBB and Edmunds experience/data over yours.

Depends how much you drive, with the miles I put on it dropped like a rock. My truck was mid 70s new and is now probably worth around 35 to 40 grand *Not trade in* I’m talking that’s what the dealer would sell it for. Trade in maybe 32ish grand. 60k miles on it. I see one year old tahoes all the time for $20,000 less than new barely broken in. Value is perceived by the consumer and after owning one I don’t see 70 grand in value anymore for a new one again.
Unfortunately I have to disagree. I too thought the same thing, until I started shopping around for a replacement. Looking at the prices of the new Lincoln's and top of the line Expedition Max's I have decided to keep my Denali once it comes off lease. This because every nicely equipped full sizes SUV that can tow more than 5000# is in the $70K ballpark.
I'm starting to think my $76K Denali for $68K was a deal. lol

I came from Ford vehicles in a ford family wouldn’t mind the new expedition here. I just wish they’d put their damn 6.2 in one. That’s why I love the GMC.

I agree but I’m excited to drive the expy/navi

More horses, torque and towing than the GMC’s.

They do win in all those aspects and I’m excited to test it too. but have you ever driven a Ford with their 6.2 Boss? Im a fan of bigger displacement. It’s the most aggressive sounding V8 I’ve ever driven. Sounds way better than my 6.2 theirs screams when it’s up at 6 grand and there is just nothing like that deadly powerful sound. Might have to grab an older raptor to nab one. As far as towing the ford always had the upper hand. A 5.4 Triton expy base can tow more than my Denali.

Haven’t no. I love my 6.2L in the Denali and with a catback it sounds great. I hate the stuttering and lurching that the drivetrain has though.

It’s really amazing they are getting 450hp out of a 6.

There’s that Ford 6.2 growl I’m talking about. But anyway yes the V6 power is impressive. I’m sure GM will counter with something soon.

Part of me just doesn't know if I would feel satisfied driving a 6 cylinder turbo toy hauler.
I've owned several turbo and supercharged vehicles. But a 6 cylinder turbo truck...just lifeless.
A truck is supposed to be loud and raunchy and just sound like it tows.

I’m with you. I need to drive it. It’s faster, has more HP and more torque than a denali so it’s really piqued my interest.

What I wonder about is longevity of the V6, can it last like ours? As a V8 fan I feel Ford has alienated customers like me. I’m with you there.

Is it faster though? People over at the F150 forums claim their Platinums they traded in for it was faster. And the 2018 3.5 Ecoboost got a redesign. Most people are pissed the new Raptors are slow compared to what it claims on paper, and they say it sounds terrible. I’ve never driven one but I know two guys have them. Not sure their thoughts though.

I test-drove a 2017 Supercrew Lariat 3.5 ecoboost last week. There is nothing lifeless about that truck. It hauls ass and is very bit as quick as the Denali. 0-60 is well under 6 seconds. Throttle response was instant and the 10sp transmission was awesome. It still sounds pretty good but no, not quite as nice as a V8. You could easily fix that with an exhaust I'm sure. It will be a great engine in the new Expy.

I test drive a 2017 Yukon XL afterward and it felt a bit underwhelming and bus-like in comparison. Mind you it was the SLT, but I was really disappointed at how cramped the inside felt... especially the second row. The 5.3 pulled nicely but the transmission response is noticeably slower in comparison to the 10sp F150

It’s more powerful and lighter so unless they gear it strangely it should be.

Oh, I'm sure it is a more superior engine. My friend has a new Explorer sport. That thing is a rocket. But I just don't know if I would feel satisfied having that engine in a full sized truck/SUV.
I know I'm a bit dated in my view. But there is just something about a V8 engine and a nice exhaust. He does still enjoy getting behind the wheel of his 5.7 RAM.

I’ve driven 3.5 F-150s and I’ll tell you what, it just isn’t the same. It’s too quiet and doesn’t rumble. The 6.2 F-150s are a magical unicorn to come by but they completely blow that ecoboost away. I get the power, but it’s missing that sound and scream of the V8.

More horses, more torque, more towing better mileage.

a catback can probably add back the intangible of sound.

But I’m with you guys, there’s nothing quite like a v8 rumble.

I forgot to add that I also test-drove the 5.0 V8 too. It had the 6pd tranny so it was really slow to respond vs the 10spd. I'm sure the 10spd in the V8 will be better but the ecoboost pulled better and, honestly, the V8 didn't sound significantly different. Marginally better at most.

The small chevy V8 doesn’t sound like much. The 6.2 either for that matter. Really need a catback to wake them up
