Honestly if you are buying a suv bc of power, you see buying the wrong suv. Sure is nice to have a bit more power but the thing still a tank. Tahoe LT fully loaded and go for looks rather than speed. GTR for speed. At least that's how I see my garage, plus my race bikes lol

Ps: this is just my opinion

No kidding? I haven’t seen any yet. Swung by ford yesterday and didn’t see any expeditions in the lot...

They were test vehicles...there were a few more in different color and wheel options but didn't get a pic.

Spent the day at the Anaheim Car Show on Saturday. The Chevy and GMC areas were well stocked with Tahoes and Yukons. A white Tahoe RST was there, maybe the same one used for the spring presentation. Looked great, but it was stickered at $71K - without the Performance Package. Heard many people attracted to it, looking at the price and asked where the 6.2 was for 71K.

GM has a pricing problem. There are a lot of 3-seaters out there for 71K+. Not as many are useful for serious towing, but we all know that many folks just use them as better looking minivans. Sure did look sweet, though.

I totally agree. All 3 brands are really $45,000 trucks with options that bring up to over $100,000 at the Escalade level. But man do they look great!

Agree. Although i dont think it seemed as bad in person and Outside of the rear it did have a nice classy look. However, I believe the expedition rear will be worse. This is why I'm considering giving gm another shot and trading in our 15 for a 17. Plan to test a couple within the week and hoping the ride will be much improved compared to our 15.

I'm going to wait until the LA Auto Show in November. They had a Lincoln and Ford versions at the OC Show, but both were the XL versions and they were locked.

I went through all this during the first of this year. I just couldn't see paying $8K to $10K more for a GMC Yukon Denali when I could get a very nice Chevrolet Tahoe Premier. It's all I needed to get from point A to point B. I am enjoying my new 2017 very much and also enjoy not having a vehicle decision hanging over my head!

Why is it bigger discounts on the Denali are so much easier to find? The Denali is the same price or cheaper than a Premier on cars.com on many listed. Has me thinking I might sell the burb and get an 18 Denali.

One thing for me is Cocoa/Dark Atmosphere on the Denali. I love the color. The Chevy only has one tan interior choice and I find it ugly. Unless you count the orange Cocoa/Mahogany. Not a huge fan of the Cocoa/Shale on the Denali.

The leather looks and feels different imo.

I would say the Chevy Premier is closer to the GMC SLT than it is the denali. I prefer the cocoa/drk atmosphere of the denali over the basic tan of the SLT. I wish the GMC SLT offered the same tan with cocoa like the chevy line.

Not really. The Premier has HUD, same door handles rear bumper and door panel, suspension, as Denali. Vented seats, HID headlights, both only available with adaptive cruise. The LT and SLT are similar 100%.

I didn't realize HUD wasn't available with SLT. Seats are identical between Chevy Premier and GMC SLT. Yes, the HID and MRC are only in Premier and Denali. Denali XL is a step up from both and of course the denali has the standard 6.2 8spd/10spd.

So really you get the following with the premier compared to the SLT:
-MRC
-HUD
-HID

Doesn't the denali also have "real" wood trim and additional sound proofing compared to all other pkgs?

I was in the market for an SUV for the family (wife and 2 kids) having come from a junker 1990 Nissan Pathfinder. I used to own a 2004 Tahoe Z71 11 years ago so always had a Tahoe in mind. I loved that ride. Now I'm back to home ownership and the ability to buy a nice SUV for the family after struggling for years....I went with a Chevy Tahoe over Gmc because I was at my father in laws house which he is a chevy guy and a mechanic who owns his own very successful auto repair shop, races top dragster, was well as my brother in law who is a mechanic was there who asked me, hey Marc, do you know what GMC stands for? I said Generic Made Chevrolet? He said no....it stands for GayMansChevy. After that I went and bought clean 2011 Chevy Tahoe over a clean Yukon Because I knew I wouldn't be able to stop hearing my brother in law saying what he thought GMC stood for......I do not endorse what my brother in law thinks is funny or what he thinks, just sharing what went through my mind when buying a Chevy vs. GMC.....

I wouldn’t say the Denali XL is a “step up”, it’s just longer.

The center console in the Premier is the same as the Denali.

You forgot to add the door handles, door panel, back bumper. They’re the same as the Denali, not SLT.

I’m not sure if there’s more sound proofing. That’s always been the case with the Denalis but I’ve not read that with these since 2015+. Last gen also had different leather, but again not sure with this gen. The Denali has Active Noise Cancellation. Does the Chevy? They have the same sound system and everything but I’m not sure.

The wood is suppose to be real in the Denali but it just looks like a different color. Both look extremely low quality imo.

Can’t get power retractable running boards on the SLT.

Still, I’d say a Premier has more in common with a Denali than an SLT. Nearly everything sans 6.2 and 10 speed.

sorry, i meant "denali" not the XL part.

yes you are correct, I believe the Premier has ANC as I believe the "LTZ" had it. And the cupholders are Premier and Denali only. However, The 17 and 18 SLT have the exterior trim pkg as well...chrome trim door panels, chrome exhaust as well as a different grill (but no chrome for handles and rear bumper). The SLT now has the standard digital gauges like the Premier and denali. The LT and SLE do not. It's almost like they randomly picked different things to crossover and some not. Basically the Premier has a few extra chrome add-ons outside of the HUD and MRC . Denali has different leather/stitching seats, interior, tranny, and engine. Denali has real brushed alum trim interior while SLT and Premier share the same plastic interior trim as other models. Essentially, outside of the cupholders, the interior of a Premier is identical to an SLT, part for part.

I recently replaced a seat cushion in our SLT with one out of a loaded wrecked 17 suburban premier and it's identical...a black perforated vented seat.

I am curious if all models have same sound proofing, glass, etc.

In order definitely Denali, Premier, SLT...but in my opinion the Denali is a different animal with major diff while the SLT and Premier have most in common.

Does the current Denali have different leather? Is it real? On the last gen it was real Nappa leather wasn’t it? I’m still unclear on this. I’ve been tossing around the idea of selling my 17 Premier for an 18 Denali that’s why I’m so curious. And I am super curious as well if it has additional insulation. Maybe more acoustic glass too? I’ve never been able to find any review online that mentions this. I guess vin numbers and part checks for glass might say.

Have you had any issues with the 17? vibration, buffeting, etc?

not sure on the leather quality. I've heard both regarding it...quality is same but with different stitching but also heard that the actual leather quality is different. The 17 slt and premier I sat in seemed the same. I have been in one new denali and can say the doors, trim and leather all seemed a step up but really don't have any info on the leather to back it up. I will also mention that the 17 SLT seemed a lot nicer than our 15 SLT leather....softer and more plush/comfy. I am looking at possibly trading in for a 17 burb, SLT, or denali but I need to figure out the pricing differences as they seem to really vary from dealer. to dealer.

No I haven’t had any issues at all and I’m at 24k miles.

I always thought the material on the center console in the Denali looked different in pics. Never been in one in person. It looks more creamy and rubbery, less flat plastic. I would really love a better dash. Especially at $70-80k.
