So did you make a decision yet?

Not yet. I currently have bigger priorities for my limited time. But, I haven't forgotten about it for sure. Out of habit, I look at the middle of the dash every time I go to back up in the Tahoe cuz the backup screen in above the radio in my work van. The $100+ cameras are not an option so I have to rummage through the $12-$50 options, and there are a lot.

Do you have a $100+ camera you like? If so, I you are already playing the waiting game, and so you might as well watch for the one you like to go on sale. Amazon warehouse deals, and Best Buy open box, and etc. Or someone on Craigslist.

You get the idea.

Good luck - - I need one too, but I but am still a month out from even looking.

This is the high-dollar, but high-quality one: https://camera-source.com/automotiv...urban-yukon-denali-suv-backup-camera-kit.html

I'll likely take the middle road and end up with an ACA400 that Mikey mentioned.

I got my camera from www.rearviewsafety.com. They're a little pricey, but the cameras seem to have better waterproof rateriogs than most. The image is very clear and bright and at night, even without LED illumination.

Looks like some considerable options there. I'll have to download and compare the spec sheets on those. Thank you for your input.

I know, bringing a two year old thread back from the dead. But it's the most relevant to what I'm trying to do. @iamdub did you ever pick one? I just picked up a 2013 Denali XL and was extremely disappointed in the camera. I used the Camera Source camera on my 2008 2500HD, it's amazing and is what I'm comparing it to. With upgraded reverse lights on the 2500hd its great at night too. I'm thinking about just picking up another Camera Source camera but I wasn't sure if it was the OEM camera quality that sucked or the OEM headunit resolution.

The OE camera in my 2011 was clear and looked great, but the one in my 2012 is blurry and over exposed (too much contrast/brightness) that I can't adjust. I don't know if its just a bad camera/lense, or the head unit, as the 2011 was CD based and 2012 was first year of hard drive based.

I have not. Been involved everywhere else on my Tahoe and I rarely drive it so a rearview camera isn't high on my list at the moment. I'm glad to see some real-world feedback on The Camera Source one. But, after buying a $35 one off Amazon for a friend's truck and being satisfied with it, I'll likely go with something like that. I love a clear and sharp image. But, for the very minimal use I'll get out of it, spending more seems like a waste of money for me.

Nope. Radio changed to hard drive based in 2012. The menus are different.

That secret menu worked on my 2011, but not on the 2012.

LMAO pay no attention to the person giving you false information. He’s always full of it. There’s no adjustments on the other menu for brightness or contrast either.

Lol

The owners manual says there should be brightness/contrast controls when in reverse and hitting the menu button, but I've never gotten it to show them.

^ I've tried that, it works
What year is your vehicle? I can't get it to do anything in my 2012, and I've even updated the head unit software with my Tech2 and TIS2Web
