I took my truck in today to have my 26's balanced at my local tire shop where I bought them. I've always had a good relationship with them even though sometimes they do some stupid shit and today was no exception. These guys know me by name, they know my truck and they know my wheels. They're the only 26's they've worked on. They love them but they hate them. So I didn't even look at them until I got home and I see the weights plainly visible even though it looked like they tried to hide them behind the spokes. Then I noticed one was hanging so I pulled it the rest of the way off. We've been through this before. I drove back and reminded them that isn't the way we do the weights on my truck. They go on the inside, at the tire bead, like everybody elses does. Dude says " but they're silver, you'll see them" and I tell him you can't see the inside of my wheel but you CAN see the ones they put on, definitely can see THEM. It took them 2 1/2 hours to do it wrong, now I need to take it back again. I stayed calm even though I wanted to scream at them for wasting my time. I mean, they didn't charge me a thing but my time does mean something to me.

First world rich people problems :laughing1:

But seriously I guess you have to babysit them and walk them through the process everytime, it is what it is. When I worked at discount we would paint the weights to hide them and strategically place them out if view on custom rims. Not so much on a basic Toyota rav 4 wheel lol.

Then before mounting on the vehicle we (ok only I ever did this) would get the customer and see if they like it, especially since they dropped $$$ at our store.

I didn't wait around since they said it would take over 2 hours to balance my wheels. Oh well.

Damn you. :)

I just went outside to look at my NBS. Just finished washing the NNBS btw.

I guess it didn't bother me as much as you, but even though my weights are grey and blend in well with my wheels, they are not all perfectly hidden behind the spokes.

And only one guy is allowed to touch my wheels as well. May address this at the next wheel balancing.

Yeah well they don't advertise that they sell them. I went in , told them what I wanted, and asked if they would meet my best online price and they beat it by several hundred and their price was mounted and balanced.

What about that red wire that comes off the yellow rca plug? I figure plug that into the back of the deck instead of running a separate wire to the a pillar. Has to be interconnected in the harness to the other wires that connect to the reverse light. What else is it for ?

My new Pioneer has its own reverse sense wire (I don't know if others have its own wire for that). It is setup so it can monitor the reverse camera without having the truck in reverse. When I get my reverse camera, I'll just hook the power wire for the camera up to the accessory circuit.

I put my Ham Radio call plate that came in the mail today on my truck.
My new (to me) DL3 mirrors also came today.
And I found an '02 Esky power fold switch on ebay.

All I need now is to go back to the salvage yard and get the blanks for where the onstar controls go so I can mount a switch or two there that actually do something...
I plan on taking apart the Esky power fold switch and solder on some wires so I can just have a momentary switch somewhere else on the dash (like in place of the onstar buttons).

Check these people!. I REPLACED CORRODED TAILIGHT HARNESS ON LEFT SIDE that connect to bulbs. connectors burnt! Check them people!

I also decided to replace the cracked air filter housing on my 05 Tahoe but the crappy Dorman one that came in the mail was made of thin weak plastic. I returned to back to AmaZON.COM.

Chatted to my mechanic last night. Hit him up for some lift time next week to have a look at the front end. Researched some Moog and Energy Suspension parts to see how far we want to go up there. Thx guys info.

Two other issues looking for input.

1. Drivers side power mirror functions are intermittent, as in sometimes they work and sometimes they don't and slow when they do work. Passenger side responds, but seems sluggish. Wondering if the switch on the door panel might be going bad or a loose connection behind the sail panel? Other thoughts?

2. My CHMSL/3rd brake light is out. I replaced the OEM one with a Dorman one last year. Worked without any issues until recently. All tail light functions and cruise control are operational. I replaced the CHMSL 10amp fuse inside by the driver as it was blown.

The CHMSL light worked for maybe one or two brake pedal cycles and then blew the fuse again. Tried a 15amp fuse just to see and it blew. I checked the fuse box under the hood and everything appeared to be okay. Might need to have another look.

Thoughts on where to chase a possible short? The actual harness where it plugs into the CHMSL or elsewhere to help me start somewhere?

Thx guys.

Sounds like it may just be the motors in your mirrors giving out. I would start there.

As for the brake light it sounds like there is a short to power and I would start checking the wiring harness in areas that are moving I.e. The top of the lift gate where the harness enters the body. Pull the fuse and also disconnect the chmsl and put the leads of your multimeter on a good ground or the negative battery post (if you have one long enough) and the other lead in the terminal of the positive feed for the chmsl harness where the light plugs into. Open and close the lift gate and wiggle that harness around. Hopefully you'll hear your meter beep at you at some point to confirm there's a short to power.

One thing to try is to see if maybe the two connections that plug into the switch is loose.
On my passenger side I have a loose connection for my mirror and blinker from the connector.

Easy one is the sail panel check unless it is the motor, then that darn switch after removing the door panel.

Thx guys. On my list, but kids spring break is seriously interrupting my truck free time other than wash and spray wax!! Lol

Daughter told me this morning I needed to wash the NNBS because it was dirty. I said, baby I already did it last night while you were running around before dinner. She is ready to shine today!! My daughter misses nothing. Lol

With new windshield and front end it should really feel like driving a new one! What did the glass cost?

$198 with tax. I didn't turn it in to insurance, just paid it outright. Took them about an hour I guess. And you're right!! It does feel like a new vehicle! Even with 224,000 miles. :)

Two hours to balance with stickies!? that's crazy, even for 26s. Guarantee I could do it within an hour and you wouldn't even have to tell me where you wanted to the weights. Some people just don't get it. You spend tons of money and time on your vehicles and then they do stuff like that, just blows my mind. I wonder if they even recalibrate their balancer for your wheels, unless they have a brand new top of the line balancer most balancers need recalibrating once a month and they should recalibrate just for your wheels regardless of when they did the last one.
