Leaking roof liner

For you California folks . . . I am not complaining about our recent rains, it's fantastic! However, I have noticed that for the first time in my entire car career, my roof is leaking! I did a search, anyone else encounter the same issue?

The first downpours we had a few weeks ago, I noticed some drops from the map light areas (pic). I thought maybe it was an improperly closed sunroof, so when the rains stopped, I opened and reseated the sunroof. In this latest downpour, I now have some water collecting by the driver's visor mount (no pic of that one yet), this seems ludicrous to me for a car that is barely 3 months old. Anyone else have this problem? I did a search and didn't see anything, TIA, KH

Well you can tape off the windshield and run a line of silicone across it. Takes 5-10 mins. If it still leaks then back to the sun roof

What about the OnStar antenna by chance not seated tight enough or a problem with the gasket or perhaps the roof rack bolts? We all know that where you see the water dripping may not be the actual intrusion location.

Give it the hose trick and see if you get a leak depending on where you are spraying.

Good suggestions, thanks! I did notice a gap in the antenna molding and was wondering if that was wondering if that was the culprit! Here's a pic of the visor "leak" - thank for no one busting my balls about the "liner" leaking, of course the leak is elsewhere, it is just making itself known at these locations KH

You did mention a GAP around the antenna/good starting place. It looks like the left side pillar is very wet, and I believe that's where the antenna is located. The headliner is going to act like a sponge, meaning it could draw water from any location, as OP mentioned upper w/shield mldg. JMHO and good luck.

Same problem here after a getting soaked all night in PA.
The volume of water I have just doesn't look like it would come in from the notch behind the Antenna.

I'm thinking it's getting in underneath the black plastic trim that runs from the edge roof rails to the windshield.

Mine has been isolated to the area above the A Pillar.
Nothing along the windshield, overhead console or even the grab handle.

i'd def. suspect the onstar antennae

also sunroofs have drain lines. i had an issue w/ previous vehicle where line came undone prior to A pillar

I FEEL FOR YOU! We had this in our Denali. After replacing the XM antenna, and still having 3 more leaks...it was determined it was the sunroof. The had to replace the entire assembly and then there was still problems. I actually went the route of a buy back. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this. Just remember, document, document, document.
Also, they do forget that you can go 3 weeks without an issue because its tied to newsflash...rain.

Might be wise to take a video camera and go through a car wash to see what you can record.

Thanks for everyone's replies - Just circling back to confirm that GMC replaced my OnStar antenna and sealed it (properly), like 68 describes above, they have seen this issue before. I use ApplePlay for nav, so I didn't even care that nav wasn't working, but they identified that they needed to replace the antenna itself. The job took a day, but they did need to overnight the antenna. I will have to wait for the next rain to see if the problem is indeed fixed (looks like later this week). Thanks again! KH
