Fortunately I live in California and caltrans doesn't use salt on the roads because itll ruin our asphalt. So we don't get rust and wheel rot like that. Plus I'm a professional detailer so my rims are always sealed with good products.

Ahh cool!

What do you use on your rims?

I buy a product called jetseal from, chemical, guys. Its designed as a 6 months to a year depending,in weather paint sealant. I get about y months out of it with my winters up here. So twice a year I clay and seal my car top,to bottom. Paint, glass and rims, so the new 20s will get sealed with jetseal when they are ready to go on.

I envy you guys in the south that don't have to deal with rust. Or look at cars a few years old that look like junk

Us guys in the Northwest don't have to deal with rust either. Salt on the roads is outlawed here!

Really? We get salted up the a$$ around here(nj). Certain parts of Pa they use cinders instead of salt.
In Ohio, our roads are made from salt and cinders lol.

I've only heard the stories about rust, and once in awhile I see a rusted out vehicle that must have come from out East. We only use sand and sometimes a de- icer that is " environmentally friendly" since we have salmon and steelhead protections so they're careful about what goes into our rivers. The de-icer doesn't work all that well. And they sweep up the sand and re-use it.

Yeah here in big bear in socal where I live they put down a mixture of gravel and cinders to melt snow and then when the snow melts they sweep it all back up and re use it. No salt here because it's outlawed as well. Both my 1999 dodge Dakota I had and then the 2001 Durango I had before my Denali were ca cars and completely rust free despite being older vehicles. My Denali is as well. Occassionally I see an early 2000s model vehicle that looks like it came from the east coast and is rusty. But that's rare.

In southern Ontario they use a shit load of salt and this new stuff called grime. It's a water base salt they put down before a storm. And that stuff is worse than salt. It creeps everywhere and rusts cars quicker. I avoid areas in my city where they use it. I try to power wash the cars once or twice a week to get the salt off and oil spray the shit out of them. Seems to have been working.

Well no mods to share right now. Got a lot to do but not a lot of tike, for them unfortunately. Just general maintenance today. Had to replace to socket behind the drl on my drivers side today. Socket was trashed so it would ruin the bulb every couple months. Finally got time today to clip the two wires and splice in the new socket I picked up. All my lights work as they should so that's a plus given that I'm not really good at messing with wires :D
