I custom ordered a 18 Denali xl, it's now on the train so they went ahead and gave the employee deal, ended up 11% off sticker and got the blue book excellent trade valuation on our 15 8-spd, excited to get in the 10 speed.

Congrats! I’ve always wondered how the negotiations vs. manufacturers incentives process goes when you custom order a vehicle? There are really 3 points in time where manufacturer’s incentives may change during the custom order process: 1- upon initial order, 2- while its in process being built, “on the train” as you said, and 3- upon arrival.

Do you negotiate the price at time of order and take the then current incentives, then have the choice to take different and changing incentives? Or are you forced to take whatever incentive is current upon delivery?

We negotiated 4K off the sticker of 81.5k (I got the BIG brakes!) and he said when the car is close there may be better end of year incentives. He was right! Very easy transaction

Just recently placed a factory/custom order for an 18" Tahoe. Negotiated price upfront, gave the dealer 3K down and was told I would be eligible for whichever incentives were available upon delivery/pickup.

What do you think about the risk of the incentives upon delivery being worse than when you ordered the vehicle? That’s what I worry about.

Absolutely possible, but ultimately my goal was to custom order my tahoe regardless of the incentives. The key was negotiating the price I wanted up front. If the incentives save me additional money upon delivery then thats great, if not, I am still paying the agreed upon price at the time of ordering.

Over $10K off sounds like a dang good deal on a Yukon. I never see them discounted much.

Yea I was very happy with the deal. The dealer found $6500 in incentives and added those on top of supplier pricing to arrive at the sales price (in my experience they'll typically let you have either/or but not both).

It was a nice change of pace to encounter a dealer who I felt was looking for ways to get me the best price possible on the vehicle. Made the deal over email/phone sight unseen and traveled ~300 miles to pick it up.

I picked up a 2018 Premier with the 6.2L. Sticker $75,600. Paid $67,500 plus got 27k trade on a 2013 4Runner and also added $5000 GM card bonus cash. That got us out the door at $36,000. Love the 6.2L and the Tahoe.
