I was at local pay and spray and I was spraying roof between windshield and sunroof and ****, blew a 5x6 piece of white paint right off.

Its -22.
Its currently clean.

I need to repair myself.

What should I do?

i was thinking I could WET SAND the rough sharp edge down, scuff the edge of the chip, mask off a larger square area, PRIME and PAINT.

I have no way to heat the surface paint up other than a heat gun.

I want to get it white quick and dirty.

What do you ALL think my options are.

I could just mask off a square and spray bomb it white. How long will that last?

I CAN COME BACK LATER AND fix it properly. Its winter, I need it fixed asap.

Should I put grease on it till I paint it in a day or two? OR JUST LEAVE IT?

I have almost zero paint repair experience. Just what I read.

What should i do now and in 2 days? and in 3 months maybe?

Sorry I can't answer, but to anyone who knows... would the paint come off like that from the pressure simply because it is so darn cold?

The bond was weak all along. You just sped it up.

Just sand and prime paint. Then get it properly fixed in spring. Otherwise you will look hood.

^ Exactly what everyone else said. Clean the area, use 180 grit paper, and prime. Wait for better weather to paint.

In these cold temps you won't get a good bond with the paint regardless so just do what you need to prevent rust from setting in and wait til spring

So before checking back... I ran out to store and bought primer and 400 and 1000 grit sand paper.

I bought 400 to sand the rough edge down and 1000 to scuff up the good white paint to promote adhesion of new paint.

Any thoughts on that? ^

Thanks y'all... you guys rock. thanks for the replies ^^^^!!!

Just make sure you clean. It well before you spray. Sand dust under the paint will make the bond weak.

That paint won't bond well anyway in sub zero weather.

On that note... what temp. would y'all say is a decent minimum? I really want to to krylon my lower valence and rustoleum the grille guard this evening or tomorrow evening, but the high is just 60ish. Is that still too cold for paint?
