I just went out and looked behind my glove box, and I can see what looks like a door over the same area.

Yeah Ive pulled a ton of these and some are absolutely insanely nasty.

Nope you need to remove that panel under the dash but it looks like you can see if you have the door by looking from the glovebox

It would have mad so much sense if they would have made it so you could get it from there...

Yeah, in the picture of my 2000 Yukon XL, you can see where the one end of the door clips in, right next to the foam.

I have a feeling mine haven't been changed in a long time...
