This sounds like the noise cancelling is over compensating. wonder if you can pull the fuse. GM surely tried this.

Anyone have a solution/cause to this. This issue has actually stopped my dad from even considering upgrading from his 08.

I was really worried about this with ours. We were getting a low drone ( not serious buffering) at low speeds in town. After taking a drive with the service guy he pointed out that only occurs when V4 mode is active at low speeds. As soon as it jumped to V8 mode it goes away. Anyway, there was nothing they could do about the V4 rumble as I have named it.

There are several aftermarket tune/tuners that can eliminate the V4 switching (just leaves it in V8 all of the time). I'd be interested in seeing what actual effect the cylinder deactivation has on overall fuel economy.

What a bummer. I'm new to gmc. I've had dodges since I got my license when I was 16. Love my dodges. Although I dislike the wonderful tranny problem that every dodge has in it's lifetime cuz it's a major PIA to get fixed. Anyways I just picked up a 2006 Denali xl. It's not the 2015 like what your talking about. But Im Thrilled with my purchase. So far I have t had an issues. But then again my ride has very low miles. And it was extremely well cared for y it's one previous owner. So needless to say I'm happy about joining the gmc brand. But that sucks that you got the dream truck you wanted and it wasn't what you were hoping for. I'm curious to know now if my close family friend that got a 2015 SLT yukon a few months ago a is having any of these issues.

bump

anyone ever figure out what is causing this issue?

my 2015 LS drives me nuts when I'm under the highway and/or in a tunnel. The noise I hear is similar to what the OP described.

I've attributed it to the V4 mode. I can actively hear the squeak when my motor transitions from V4 to V8 mode and the butterfly valve opens. Been meaning to pin the damn thing open with a hose clamp (seen that fix here in another thread).

I'm fairly certain the rumbling/noise is due to harmonics in the exhaust. I have a 2012 Challenger R/T with Flowmaster exhaust and that damn thing does similar at 1500-1700 rpm due to exhaust drone feedback. You can't really hear it, but it'll resonate with my inner ear and make me sick. Most times I drive in 5th gear instead of 6th to avoid those RPM ranges. Shame you can't do that with the Auto 6 speed in my 2015 Tahoe

How serious is this problem I'm looking to purchase next week but cautious about it now

---------- Post added at 01:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:37 PM ----------

I'm going to rent one and see how bad this problem is cause I've been heavily in the market for this vehicle and even gotten a gm employee discount ready for the purchase of a denali for 63k, but if this is a serious problem I might need to look at other vehicles

Was at the dealer the other day and they recommended I get a Blk on Blk because the limo services would buy it when I was ready to sell it, wondering why would he even bring that up now.

As the OP, I have been keeping an eye out. Seems like most are good, some are bad. Here's link to another forum where people as recent as this week are still having this issue(s). Personally, I would hold off until the 16's come out. Won't be much longer and perhaps they figured it out the source. Hope so.
