What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I've got a vibration issue.

Over about 80mph the truck has a little vibration to it, noticeable in the steering wheel. It's not terrible, but doesn't inspire confidence in driving those speeds.

Wheels have been re-balanced. Tires rotated. Alignment performed (twice). Entire front suspension is new.

Any other ideas? Steering column bushings?

Drive 79 mph...:shrug:

There’s a price to pay when you can’t wait. I get my RA stuff in about 3-4 days and it’s almost always the best price. Last week I did brakes on a friends F-250 Super Duty. I told him, I’ll get new rotors and pads from RA for the same price as just the pads from a local parts store. He said he didn’t want to, he just had a shop put expensive rotors on a couple years ago. I get it torn down and the fronts were old, grooved and cracked. Never were replaced. The rears were newer but were slotted and drilled, couldn’t have them turned even though they should have been. So for way more money he ended up with ****** rear rotors. The shop had ripped him off no surprise. I could have saved him $100 and had new rear rotors, Power Stop stuff all the way around. But once it’s torn down and you need the parts to put it back together right away, you’ll pay since there’s really not much choice.

I just bought 2 ac delco rotors for my 13 equinox from ra for the price of one at any of the parts stores. Plus I got it within 2 days on a Saturday instead of Monday like it said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on a 4WD Tahoe when only in 2WD I figured the front CVs and diff wasn't really spinning? I am guessing it is the U-joints as well.



Honestly, that is what I do. But its annoying knowing that something is wrong...

Those CV joints shafts are turning all the time your tahoe is moving

The CV shafts are constantly spinning when the truck is in motion.

They are just disconnected inside the front differential when not engaged.

How much of the internals of the differential are spinning with them is what I am not certain of as I have never disassembled the front diff on one of these trucks.

Dropped the tahoe off at the mechanic for inspection and emissions. Asked to have the trans fluid, front and rear diff fluid changed as well. Hopefully this bill isn't too bad....lol.

The right side has the disconnect so that side should not turn any other components. The left side remains attached to the side gear and would either turn the side and spider gears, slowly rotate the ring and pinion or a combination of both. Just due to fluid friction alone.

regarding the vibration, does rotating the tires have any effect? Even if it changes v.s. goes away. I have seen lots of tires balanced fine but with excessive runout that would cause a vibration.
