Z71 running board issues

When I purchased my 04 Z71, it was missing the passenger side running board. I thought I looked it over close enough because I thought all the brackets & hardware were there, but after I purchased a used running board & went to install it, I noticed that the bracket closest to the rear tire was completely snapped off (should've known the step wouldn't be missing for no reason)... Anyhow, I got one bracket & want to install this step soon, & was wondering if someone could help me with a few questions before I decide if this is something I can fix myself, or if I need a bodyshop to fix this? How do the brackets attach to the car on the end that goes behind the plastic rocker panel cover? Are they riveted, or bolted up? Also, upon closer inspection, a few of the other brackets look bent/tweaked, can I have them bent back to where everything will lineup again, or do I need to find replacements? They are sort of hard to find used & are costly from the dealer. Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I haven't attempted to remove the plastic rocker cover yet since it's been raining a lot lately.
