So yeah. Its been TEN months to the day today. Since my Tahoe had a run in w a suicidal deer, went down. Got the body work done no problem, insurance paid for that. But they wouldn't cover the transmission, that also died in said incident. Got tired of arguing, I let it go. Well my banker (wife) tells me that everything is a go to get the Tahoe fixed!! My truck goes to the transmission shop on Tuesday, and I'll be back in the driver seat on FRIDAY!! 10 long a$$ months I have been waiting to drive it, just sitting in my driveway. Looking pretty.
Just so Happy and excited I had to share.:party33::driver::happy107:

Its a Rebuilt. Local shop. Really Tahoed guys, I've used them before on a differnt truck, still going strong on that build and I am by no means easy on vehicles, unless I'm tryin to save gas, or its not mine. Lol.
Well i got the tahoe back late Friday after work. Had to work Sat, but gotten some miles on it. I have noticed a couple of things, my steering is off a bit,(haven't driven it since I got it back from body shop so might need slight alignment) and my fuel mileage is not as good as it was. Only have about 70 miles on it thus far so maybe after break-in it will be a lil better, not expecting much just maybe back to where it was. I'm LOVIN being back in my Tahoe.. sure did miss the ride.:party33::driver:

I would have argued with the Insurance company about your transmission, if it was working just fine before you hit the deer it should work fine after the insurance has it returned to you in a drivable condition. We pay a shitpot for insurance the least they could do is pay out when we have an accident. If your transmission was working perfect before the accident they should make sure its working fine for you when it returns. My wife had an accident when she hit a coyote and the oil coolant lines started leaking after that, they said they weren't sure if they weren't leaking before them. The Mechanic and I lifted up the car and removed the protection plate underneath the vehicle and it had a little bit of oil that wiped off. If it was leaking before it would be caked with oil and grime and dirt. SO they paid for it. Don't let the adjusters run the show. You know your vehicle more than anyone and if something isn't the same before you had your accident and its not working when you get it back call your agent and let them know we have a problem. 75% of the time the insurance will fold but if you need to turn the dick switch on you should be able to get you car repaired to original working order.

Ok, so just got back from vacation last night, About 4500 miles on the Tahoe, and the rebuild worked great. Never missed a beat, highway speeds, passing, etc. My fuel mileage even picked up a lil too, after gettin broken in a bit. Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona, Savannah, spend more time driving than I planned but, Kids loved it. So I guess it was worth it.

***** Big time about it..

Congrats.

I hope you call them back and say before the accident I didn't have any problems with my transmission and it was running perfect now after the accident its running terrible and isn't the car insurance suppose to return your car to you in good if not better shape then when it went in. By hitting the deer and it going under my vehicle doing damage going back it is very possible the animal messed up my transmission. Prior to the accident it ran just fine no problems what so ever and now after the insurance took lead on the repairs my vehicle is not usable because the transmission could fail at any point. I feel if I had problems prior to the accident then yes I understand but this happened after the accident so please repair the vehicle to how it was prior to the accident, and if its repairing the transmission that is what it needs. If Not I will talk to you manager and if not Ill talk to your President, If you cant help I will talk to Better Business Bureau and also the press because my insurance should cover all damage made from the accident. If this isn't made right I will be switching insurance companies and I will let people know about the way I was treated by your unprofessionalism and how you didn't care about the customer!!

Well, since it has been almost a yr since the time of the incident and me bein able to get it repaired. I doubt anything will come of it, but the shop owner who rebuilt my transmission, said something came loose inside and blocked the filter/pump which in turn caused the rest of the damage. And whatever it was that came loose was probably the result of the impact and immediate stop from 70 mph. He is goin to see what he can do, as far as reimbursement from the insurance.

I'm just ecstatic to have my Tahoe back on the road.

Im happy that you got your baby back and your transmission mechanic sounds like a good guy. When my wife's oil cooler's were leaking my mechanic went to bat for me and said these will be replaced by insurance because I know the history of this car and it has never had an oil leak, with his technical talk and my bitching we got the oil cooler lines replaced which would have cost me a little more than $500 because they were also ran through a T that needed to replace also and crimping SS 316 and the hoses were stainless steel and needed SS coupled couplers on each end plus labor it . Take Care Bud and enjoy your newly fixed Hoe/ Having a good Mechanic who will go to bat for you against the insurance companies is nice because I tried to get it through to them that the cooler lines never leaked prior to the accident, after the accident I had a puddle in my garage where I never had one before. Thanks to my Mech the new cooler line don't leak and it save me over $500
