So I bought this Denali a few months ago GM certified preowned...
I was a little weirded out because the passenger side headlight had a chip on the bottom rear corner. Didn't affect the seal at all, but still kinda weirded me out.
A while ago I was driving and I heard this but thud as I was slowing down at a stop sign, I thought I hit someone when all the sudden the DIC was freaking out because my hood popped itself open - Yes, the hood opened itself. The latch caught it, but if I was on the highway I'm sure the latch wouldn't matter. The dealer "adjusted something" and it was "fixed" after that.
Last night I was with a friend and he asked why I got my bumper repainted... I of course had no idea but he noticed the overspray. I kept looking at the bumper and something looked funny. I realized the painted parts to the left and right of the grille weren't flush with the hood - The driver side wasn't as bad as the passenger.
I pop the hood and there are 4 bolts holding some plastic attached to the grille - 2 bolts on each side of the latch running the width of the grille. On the bolt on the far right, there is a huge metal spacer - at least .5cm thick. The gap between the hood and the left side of the grille is about 1.5cm and about 1cm on the right. The bumper near the grille seems like it's recessed a whole CM, but looks normal everywhere else.
Obviously this thing has been in some sort of accident, whether it be a fender bender or bumping a wall or else it wouldn't need paint and it wouldn't be messed up. Would this effect the classification of it being a certified pre-owned car? The salesman and one of the service managers were a little "scared." Can't think of the right word.
Given these circumstances, would the damage knock the car out of qualification for being a certified preowned?
