Anyone know the real average cost to replace? It does have HUD and rain sense.

I’m curious as well.
I had my windshield replaced this January at the Chevy dealer. 2019 suburban Z71. Rain-sense but no heads-up display. OEM windshield $270, installation $660.90. The dealer brought in a glass company to install the glass and calibrate the system. AGM Auto Glass. I'm in Illinois :( Total $977.16. They said the windshield comes from the same factory but may not be labeled GM. Mine was GM

I figured as much. It’s a good thing I can run it as long as driver Vision isn’t impaired.

I kept mine going for 3 years with a 6 inch crack and a big chip. I used some of that windshield repair glue. One -5 degree winter day I ran the defroster too high. Turned into a north, south east west crack top to bottom and side to side. At that point since it's a structural component was replaced for safety's sake.

Ive had my windshield replaced twice, both from chips that spread across drivers view. First was replaced thru insurance by that windhsield company that comes to you, and the next was by dealer repair shop.

Does HUD require a specific windshield? I thought it was just a reflection off your dash

I was unaware that replacement under comprehensive coverage was not free everywhere... God bless the free state of Florida

Does your 15 have an actual HUD, or just the warning flasher? Our burb has the warning flasher, had a windshield done for $200 cash by a buddy that runs a company that does them. Hopefully this weekend my wife disappears so i can take apart the suburban and add in the HUD and do some other side projects i've had sitting around for it. After that, i will be using insurance to replace the windshield with a HUD variant. Mostly because the weekend after we had the windshield replaced, effin rock jumped up off the rock right into it. That is the only time i've ever gotten a rock chip in a windshield. 1 week after replacing the cracked windshield that came with the burb. Still pisses me off.....but thats why this next time around, i'll let insurance cover it. I've been paying for windshield glass replacements for over a decade, i might as well use it

It shows the speed and some info that I can scroll through so I guess it’s the HUD you’re referring to

But I don’t notice anything on the windshield itself that would look different than your standard windshield.

It's either a coating to the glass or built into the windshield, but it is not easily noticed by looking at the windshield. there is a mark on the windshield telling you its for a HUD truck, but yes, what you are describing is the HUD, so that means it's the expensive glass replacement

Do you think insurance will be willing to replace with a HUD windshield if you’re vin doesn’t show it being original equipment?

And yeah I decided to go look for the hell of it. Says HUD in the top right corner of the windshield. Had no clue my windshield would be so expensive to replace it necessary

Thanks for the pic. I wonder what drives the HUD rating? Mine has the collision avoidance system with red flashing on the windshield.

Mine is a replacement windshield. Replaced by the Chevy dealer when I bought the truck.
