can I use a 97 gm stock radio and a separate cd player in place of the separate tape deck? my Yukon is a 2001 GMC Yukon slt. I want the stock look. also doesn't gm radios have to be unlocked the seller said he went to the truck and check it and theft lock has been disable. There is no code programmed to the radio

I know this thread is old but yes it can. The 97 and 2001 are the same size and plug pin out. It was 2003+ that went to data bus. You may have to change the jumper wire harness from the tape player to the CD player in order to get it to work, but there is a very good chance they will be the same also.
