Which Shocks Should I Go With??

So as the title says, I don't know which shock company I want to go with. It is between Icon Vehicle Dynamics (76526) or Fox Shocks (980-24-660).

My 09 Tahoe LTZ just has a rear leveling kit on it now (McGaughys 30014). Currently, has the factory air shocks on it. The pump doesn't work, and I have a bouncy ride sometimes in the back.

I was going to go with one of these shocks with the oil reservoirs or King Shocks with oil reservoirs. I decided against that since this is a street truck. While I think the reservoirs look BADASS, I can't justify an extra $300 for the reservoirs and reservoir mounts from Icon. Fox is a $995 difference for reservoirs with the damping adjuster and $645 for just the reservoir. But like I said, I don't think the reservoirs are really needed on a 99.9% street truck. That 0.01% is on a tad aggressive dirt trail back to a fishing hole.

So if anyone can weigh in on their thought and/or experiences about this situation or the debate on Icon Vehicle Dynamics (76526) or Fox Shocks (980-24-660), that would be a big help.

As always, I'm willing to update the thread once I get whichever one I pick, and let yall know what I think! Stay tuned for the next few weeks to come!

Do you really need to drop the $$ on Icon's or Fox?

If you were going to go with the any of the big companies, I prefer King as their customer service is above the rest!

But in the end, it's really up to you!

I believe a set of Bilstein 5100's or some Belltech Street Performance will be perfectly fine.

based on your useage a reservoir shock is completely overkill.

Bilsteins with shock relocation brackets would be an improvement, and make sense on that truck. I wouldn't go with a short body shock like belltech unless you are lowered more personally.

I'd love to try some of those Fox shocks with Adjustable damping.....my biggest complaint with every tahoe I've had or driven is they are ALL underdamped....too little compression and rebound doesn't control the lumbering weight of these rigs....of course I want to truck to handle like german race car

rs9000xl's are a much cheaper adjustable option

hmmm....read a bunch of reviews, mostly good, but the thing I did discover is #8 is about equal to a Bilstein HD, which I was hoping to hear a bit more adjustable for my use (I currently have the Bilsteins HD) and they feel pretty soft and underdamped to my butt.

If the bilsteins had a clicker, that might be an ideal shock...imo a stock bilstein needs about 2-3 clicks more Compression damping, and about the same for rebound damping.....You know when you hit a G-Out along the road and you kinda cadilac through it and continue to osolate post impact....that a lack of proper damping, both compression and rebound ....(high-speed comp would shorten the actual stroke used, and high-speed rebound would flatten effect and stabilize the vehicle)

...I have thought about even adding more shocks (like off-roaders do) just to get more shock...I doubt its even possible.

I'm likely a good candidate for either the Fox or King shocks....unfortunately the $2k to make it happen is more of a lottery.
