What's that little black thing on top of roof?

Here's a dumb question. I have this little black box that's attached to the right side of my roof. Any idea what that could be? I have an antenna attached on the left side and I'm sure that's for the XM radio. Could the black box be for the same thing?

On my '03 YXL the one on the right is for and says XM. The one on the left is ONSTAR.

THANKS! I was looking at a bunch of Tahoes/Yukons/Burbans to compare but not all of them have it. Mine is an 04. It's kinda ugly and wanted to take it off but since it's useful, I'll leave it on. Thanks again!

Almost correct, they didn't bring out the shark fin antenna until 2006. But they did combine them in 2004.

My truck is an 04 and it wasn't combined...

That's odd...I had an '05 Denali that had one.

Was it a mid year production change?

Our 04 has two different antennas. It is stupid. I took the roof rack off and have these two zits to contend with now and I don't think that any vehicle before 2006 can get onstar because its not digital.
