Just wondering if anyone has found a good use for their rear compartment in the Yukon / Suburban. I tried putting a first aid kit in mine, but it's really an odd shaped compartment and nothing seems to fit right.

This is behind the small hatch on the driver's side behind the third row of seats.

Probably end up putting some small ratcheting tie-downs in there, since EVERYTHING we put in the back slides around on the rubber matting they use in police Tahoes. It's especially bad after we got the 'used car dealer detail' job where they pour gallons of armorall all over everything.

Thanks for the replies. I checked and my jack is in the compartment accessed from the top. I have jumper cables and a fire extinguisher in there too.

I tried my hitch in the side compartment, but it doesn't fit.

What storage area?
I know the suburbans have some storage areas back there but not on my Tahoe.

One of the things I really liked about my Rainer was the little storage area under the carpet... I stored all my tools in there.

First aid kit we carry for the kids ball games wouldn't fit so I put an adaptor for the trailer and detailing rags for when my wife takes it through the car wash. If she doesn't wipe down the tires the tire shine will ki.k up on the sides of the yukon

There's a teeny-tiny little storage bin in the left side rear interior panel. It's behind where the jack storage is. Small first aid kit/rags/flashlight is about all that would fit in there. I guess GM felt compelled to put _something_ back there. Personally, I'd rather they make the jack storage area accessible via that compartment door instead of the cup-holder panel you have to wrestle out of position to get to to access the jack and tools.

So far I've put a flashlight, dog collar and leash in there. This Yukon is new to me and I discovered it the other day while looking for the jack. I'm going to add a wratchet wrench in there too, after noticing the jack is bolted down tight. Whats up with that? Is that normal and is there a tool somewhere for removing the nuts that hold it down?

My jumper cables are in there, but I've also considered it as a sub option

It just occurred to me that i've never checked out the rear compartment. A never used jack and a sweet pair of gm gloves.

Still got the jack and some small lines for roof rack tie downs. First aid kit in the other smaller compartment above the jack.

Deck of 50 cards, (lost the 2 of hearts and jack of clubs during a knife fight), sombrero, dried up yellow highlighter, two bananas (note to self, maybe that's why fruit flies are in back seat, check tomorrow), broken pencil, one sock, flashlight with no batteries, sunscreen (expired 2002), fix a flat (expired 2001), must really clean this thing out more often.

Ok.... Really I managed to stuff the two headphones and remote control for the rear entertainment system in there. But just barely. Stupid small weird shaped container. BTW, I want a pair of gm gloves...
