What is this plug on the rear lift gate?

Does anyone know what this plug is used for?

Looking to possibly mount an aftermarket rear view cam into this location.

While we're on the subject: Can just that rubber piece be purchased? Mine is starting to disintegrate.

Just found it on amazon a/c delco switch for 22$ but i cant post the link, sorry

I checked mine, appears that the rubber has disintegrated to where it is not there along with the push button. Mine now looks like a bulb socket. Something else to be put on the replace list.

Ah, so only the whole switch is available and not just the rubber piece. That's cool- $22 for a part that lasted 8 years/162K miles. Even if the rubber piece was available separately, with my luck, the switch would break soon after. Thanks for the part number!

Guys doo what i did i went to fabric land got some black plether for 5 bucks take the rubber of trim it glue it and its 10 time better than new !!

Thats alright, when i picked mine up from the dealer and drove the hour and 10 home i wanted the fog lights and parking lights on for that look, you know 'that look' and i couldnt find the switch. i stopped to get milk (cant go anywhere with having to stop for something) i refused to look in the manual for it and i spent 15 minutes studying the dash.... found it tho, but felt like a re-re.....lol
