Just browsing cheap Yuks/Hoes in my area and came across this 2012 Yukon XL SLT, LMG 5.3, VIN:1GKS1KE00CR237859. Can anyone shed light on WTF this contraption is in the engine bay?

My best guess is a train horn?

The shoddy work on that horn might say several things..... I guess the big question is are there maintenance records suggesting the owner always had a shop maintain it? And does the OEM horn still work? Some states have safety inspections and your horn is required to work.... It could have been somebody's work around to pass inspections.

In my opinion, that price is a bit high for the vehicle if it still has AFM/DOD. Also being only rear-wheel drive.... But then again, if you never foresee needing it, it could be a positive I suppose. Maintenance records are crucial here when it comes to the price.

I was just in a 30'+ camper-type vehicle where the owner installed a true train horn ($3000 retail, but he got it for free) in it. GEEEZZZZZ that thing is LOUD. We were tailgating at a football game, and he'd let loose with the horn every time a person rooting for the other team walked by.

Thanks for the insight, you see some strange things on sales listings. It looks like someone local bought it so it will be funny to see if the new owner pops up on the forum.
