What are ya’lls plans with engine/chassis when it’s quitting time?

This has been on my mind recently. Figured it would be fun to see if ya’ll have any fun plans once it doesn’t make sense to keep fixing it or if it gets replaced.

Swap a 6.0 in? Scrap it all? Launch it off a cliff? Chop the roof off? LS swap another car? Go bankrupt fixing everything? Lol

I recently had the idea to take my 6.2L out, do a full rebuild & AFM delete, and then do an LS swap Canyon/Colorado build. I’m sure it’s way more complicated than I would like it to be, but dang it would be fun. I love the new Canyon AT4 platform, but dang I don’t know if I can actually go from the 6.2L to a 4 banger turbo.

Tongue-in-cheek name for an idea I hope to make real:

Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle-Interceptor

as in, my Tahoe is meant to (will eventually be able to) intercept Tahoe PPVs (with 4L60Es, anyway).

6.0L with at least 10.4:1, no more than 10.7:1 scr, using either 706/862 or 243/799 heads
(LY6 / L96 / LC8, 360 horse & 380 ftlb w/ 9.6:1 scr,
or L77 360 horse & 390ftlb w/ 10.4:1,
those GM OE cams should work even better with catholic heads)

did GMT821 PPVs come with 3.73 or 4.10? Whatever, 4.10 for mine -
who needs to top out @ over 129MpH in a 23+ year old Tahoe anyway?

'WY / YH' stiffer torsion bars from a K1500 pickup, or I'll settle for 'XM' Avalanche torsion bars
stiffest GM OE front & rear swaybars I can find

my 5.3L has 183,000 miles on it, still going strong, so I'm looking for 4.10s

so long as I can keep the frame from rusting, I REALLY do NOT care what the body looks like;
quick/fast zombie sleeper looking old-@$$ suv will make me happy from 2030 on ...

2008 2500 with 265k on it. Bought it in 2013, and I'll be buried in it. Already replaced the motor with a GM-reman long block about 50k ago (bad oil pickup o-ring).

No body rust, some spots of light frame rust, always garaged, dead-nuts reliable. If the trans goes, I'll get an upgrade then get some kind of forced-induction upgrade for the motor.

Have a Haggerty collectible policy on it, declared value $20k. It's a 3LT, so it has all the toys - quad heated seats, power tailgate, sunroof, heated washer fluid, Bose, nav, etc.

Still the family vacation truckster - did a 5K road trip last year to Yellowstone and Dinosaur pulling an 8k trailer. Will be doing it again, only further, going to the Pacific Northwest next year.

The 900 has to stick around for me, so if she breaks I gotta fix 'er. Hoping to get ahead of it with an AFM delete and TC down the road. I'll most likely have this truck for a long time. The 800 on the other hand...

That time is very near for 'ol Buck. The motor and trans still runs pretty good, but she got some querks and every year there's less and less metal.
The long term goal as of late is to keep it around until I find a good project to swap the motor into. Ideally a second gen F Body. :Big Laugh: Find a roller or a stick shift car with a blown motor and swap the 5.3 in.

My hope is that my modified truck will outlive me, and I will pass it on to my youngest son, as he already loves it and is an avid wrencher. If the truck's body gives out in my lifetime, I will put the motor on the racing buyers market list, as the L92 is really popular with those folks.

Long Live the GMT900!
If I'm lucky enough to find a decent GMT921 Tahoe / 931 Suburban specimen,
the 6.0L will keep its rectangle heads but I'll bump up the scr somehow,
the 6L80E will get backed by 3.73 gears, and it'll need stiffer springs & shocks,
but the gist is the same.

Note however that if I wind up with an GMT926 / 936 Escalade, eventually, the 6.2L will be replaced by a 6.0L.

Forced induction down the road would be amazing
