i am trying to black out my drl/parking light. I cleaned them with simple green then sprayed the vht and it looks like it cracked and separated as soon as i sprayed it. i put another level to see if it helped, but it didn't. gonna clean it off and try again, but i need to find out why that happened. simple green maybe?? should i sand the plastic before i spray it?? btw i did tails and 3rd brake light same way with no issues.

It was the Simple Green. Like gdddup said above, you have to use something like Prepsol or rubbing alcohol. That will dissolve any oils, wax, etc left on the lens and "soften" the plastic for the paint to adhere better.
