Hi all, New to Site.

I just bought an 08 Tahoe LTZ a few days ago and want to make some changes to the Audio system. Currently in stock form, It has a Bose with NO NAV radio, Rear DVD rear controls, no Bluetooth and no back up camera. I would like to add NAV and Bluetooth, and possibly Camera, but that’s not needed. I would like to keep the steering wheel controls and rear controls for DVD working. My wheel controls has a “Voice” button, but it doesn’t have the pic of a phone on it.

I have been reading about the plug-n-play Rosen systems, which looks like it will do what I need. I’m not against going to a GM factory radio either. I can get a pretty good discount on GM parts, so I may get a new radio cheaper than the Rosen,. But if I go factory route, will I need to replace the VCIM to get the Bluetooth to work? Does anyone have any part numbers for the GM stuff so I can run them thru my contact to check prices?

Any other options for me that are a simple install?

Also, how do you get the radio bezel off??

Any help would be grateful

the voice button would mean you had factory bluetooth, which you don't.

your so limited with the factory and/or Rosen radio that for the same price, you could do a Pioneer 4400 and get all the functions, plus more.

But if I go factory route, will I need to replace the VCIM to get the Bluetooth to work? Does anyone have any part numbers for the GM stuff so I can run them thru my contact to check prices?

if you go with factory nav, you would have to get a 2010 or 2011 VCIM and dealers usually won't let you purchase them. But if you have hookups, have them check a 2010 or 2011 unit

Any double din radio is an easy install

Also, how do you get the radio bezel off??

get a panel popper tool and it just clips in, so pull directly out. Youtube has a bunch of videos if you type in tahoe or yukon radio removal

Thanks for the quick reply.....

My Voice button only mutes the the radio, But if I install a VCIM or another radio, with that become a BT button?

As for quick install, I dont want to splice wires, add a bunch of adaptors to regain funtions, etc....

Would be quicker then trying to get the dealer to make all the functions of a newer factory radio work.

not with the aftermarket radio, unless you somehow program the steering wheel adapter to do it

with the GMOS100, it's 1 box, other adapters might be 2-3 boxes, but it's all a plug-n-play, no splicing

A better unit then the Rosen is the Advent OGM-1. It is an oem like unit with built in nav, bluetooth, ipod connection, plays pandora etc. Basically all the functions of any aftermarket stereo, but with a more oem look and a larger screen. Even the buttons are illuminated to match the rest on the dash. I installed one of these a few months back in my uncle's silverado, and the entire install took less than 30 min, and was 100% plug and play. We didn't need any additional connectors, or modules to retain the factory steering wheel controls, factory xm and chimes. All factory options were retained too like the backup sensor. like the You get everything you need for around $1000.

Overall, the unit had been performing very well, and he hasn't had any problems with it. This might be an alternative to going aftermarket or OEM. The one problem i had with it was that i found the color of the unit to be a little off from the rest of the dash, it looked to be a shade lighter than everything else.

Heres some info on where we purchased the unit from: http://www.adcmobile.com/2011/10/02/advent-gm-navi/

I just found about about this Advent a few days ago. I think this is the route I'm gonna go. I called adcmoile to get some info on ordering but no one has gotten back to me yet.

If I add the factory Back up camera, will it still work with this unit?

You can add the factory backup camera to this unit, it just takes the rca video input directly. If you choose to use the factory camera, it does require a 12volt to 5 volt convertor to power factory camera, and you have to add an rca connector to the camera harness. Its not too difficult, I followed a tutorial on here to add it to my tahoe, and the factory camera can be had for under $40 on ebay, and the convertor for a few dollars as well. There is a backup camera offered for for the Advent as well, but i am not sure of the pricing.

I also have a 08 ltz but with oem nav,, not having bluetooth drove me crazy.. There are a lot of aftermarket bluetooths out there but I wanted oem. Figured it could not be that much difference between 08 and 09. Found out you only need to buy a 09 or 10,11,12 onstar modulator and you just swap it for your old one and walaa you have Bluetooth The voice button on the steering wheel is also used for Bluetooth. If you have any questions let me know,, oh I bought the modulator on eBay for $250, kind of steep but worth it.

I thought about doing the VCIM upgrade as well. Do you have the part number of the one that worked for you? Are yous ure a 2012 will work as I thought that was a Gen 9?
