to clarify, i just need to remove the U shaped trim ring that is around the outside of the center console that holds the radio and ac controls so i can get to the bolts to remove the ac module. I will install the trim ring when i install the new ac control module.

Or put some scotch tape at the end of a thin flathead and give it a go.

Or use a stiff 1" putty knife. Don't start at the top or you'll break off that thin strip since there should be nothing holding it in place!

+1 for this. Worked on every other GM car I've worked on. Save your money on the Cruthfield tools. They are a gimmick.

they work for some things! :) I used them a lot in the towing business to get customer's dash torn open so i could get their POS out of park :) I scratched quite a few trim pieces before I decided to buy some non marking pry tools to keep customers from calling the boss man and complaining

Just use a covered flat head screw driver and be patient while working each piece.

I stick like a rewards card from a store that i don't need and instead of trying to lift the card or bend it, I twist it. I destroys the card, so don't use anything you need to swipe anytime soon...
