I have a 07 Denali and it has the 6.2L and I tow a big boat and use the tow button and it honestly seems like it is harder on the trans than running it normal. It seems like it stays in gear a lot longer (not that big of a deal) but when you are slowing down it down shifts and it has high rpms.

Is this how everyone elses acts and what do you all do.

Thanks in advance

That is what the tow haul does for everyone.

The Tow-Haul mode, changes up the shift patterns, which will keep it at an higher rpm so you can keep moving when going up hills giving you more torque, and going down it will down shift so that your brakes don't take all the weight of the load.

It's by design....

Tractor Trailers use whats called a "Jake Brake" which basically does the same thing. By holding RPMS up, the compression of the engine will slow the vehicle down and you can avoid having to ride the brakes.

Sometimes it's too sensitive....if that happens, just hit the button and kick it off.

Not only does it down shift for you saving your breaks. It locks up the TC earlier so it does not heat up the tranny and burn up the clutches.
