I'd shop around for one that folds down or swings to the side so you can open the door.

I made one back in high school as part of my senior project that swung down. Well I modified it that way after I wanted to use the tailgate on my old Jimmy that it was on. So yeah, shop around for a better one.

unknown at this time.
it is a spare. it can handle having a smaller size for a while if you need to use a spare.

then you don't have it exposed or need to spend money.

Have any of you used one of these before? and if so any thoughts, my 285 spare doesnt fit under the truck and im gettin "tired" of having to on the roof..

So you're swapping your spare on and off quite a bit?

I'm running 285's and have a 245 in the spare position, but I second SunlitComet's suggestion that a 265 should fit. Of course, a hitch assembly could effect that, but it looks like it would fit on my truck.

I have a 265 in the spare spot under my Yukon with the hitch, and it's close. A 285 might fit, though it'll be close. The only way to tell is to try it. But I think you'll get "tired" of fiddling the the cable mechanism to raise and lower the tire.

Well heres the deal, iv tryed it and it doesnt fit, i sold my spare tire because im going back down to SC and since i have 285bfgs on it, if i get a flate i dont want to be forced to spend 500$ two tires when i could have just carred a full sized spare. I guess ill just keep it on the roof for now..
