I need your help! I can not afford 4 new tires, plus I have 2 that are 90% right now. My problem is when you ask anyone at a tire shop you get the standard line - nope, can't do 2 on a 4 wheel drive. If I get 2 new tires with simalar tread patterns will there be issues? I know there "can" be - but what are the real world experiences? Last thing is where would you put them - front or rear? Thanks in advance!

Put 2 new tires on the front(they will wear faster up front)....Just tell the tire guy if you don't want my money the other tire guy will take it.
Just get as close as possible size match..tread design not as important as size.
Just to be safe do not run your truck in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement ....

Agreed with what has been said. Buy two new tires and put them on front and call it a day

Most tire manufacturers, car manufactures and tire installers will recommend that you put new tires on the rear axle, not the front.

He wants them to wear faster....so they match his 90% tread tires though. I would put the new tires up front then rotate them when they wear to equal the 90% pair.

Tire monkeys. 95% of them are idiots. new tires up front as the steering tires are the important ones. This is the same reason that big rigs can't run a re-tread up front.

Whoever told you that you had to buy all 4 new tires was just trying to steal your money. You can buy 2 new ones and put them anywhere on the vehicle you want. but if your wanting to try and match the 90% put them on the front would be the best place to get them to wear quicker. Not sure where your going to get tires, but i only go to discount tire for my tire needs. you might be able to go to them and they might have a used set of tires that are maybe 75-90% tread, for cheaper then buying 2 new ones. Ive done that before when i need a set of snow tires for when i went to colorado for spring break. Im a perfectionist so my tires would all have to be atleast the same brand and tread pattern, but you can get away with running different ones on the front and the back. Just get the same size and the same type (all-terrain, highway, or Mt. whichever you currently have)
