This week was something simple. Driver’s door cards. Thecopcar had a very intact one. Theothertwin on the other hand, had the typical nnbs broke ass door pull. Being thecopcar is my very much utility vehicle for camping and such, it made sense to swap them.

More of the nice card, and more evidence thecopcar spent its service life near San Antonio.

Looking closer at this thing, then at some pieces of angle iron on hand. Plus a glance at my wire welder, and an idea is born.

Feel free to completely ignore the welding. The pieces are firmly connected. Win.

The angle used was 1x1.5. I wanted a 2” rise and 3” projection.

It’s not a beauty queen but, it’s in and functional.

Thecopcar got an upgrade today.

I had thought of putting this on theothertwin, but figured since I’m in rural areas often with thecopcar where some deer armor might be welcome.

Gave theothertwin a plate upgrade.

Made a very lightweight piece to go behind the splash guard in thecopcar. No for rocks but other pokey stuff I might encounter.

Thecopcar is getting a rack. Since it’s my overlanding and camping rig, it makes sense for it to be the one selected to tote the kayak.

It’s assembled and sitting in place. The only measurement needed was from the rear foot to the edge of the roof. One of you kind strangers sent that.

I did, about 3 years ago. It's a Millcreek 16.5 that I built from plans by CLC Boats. I'd been wanting to do it for about 20 years, before time, space, and cash all came together. Took about 6 months to do.
