temp and compass on mirror 03 suburban

My 03 suburban has 292K miles on it and 4 months ago the compass and temp gauge on the mirror went out. 3 days ago it started working again.. I am very happy to have it back. Any ideas on what is going on?

It could be wiring, it could be soldering on the circuit board behind the display, or it could be an issue with the display itself.

Have you touched the mirror? Its mostly self contained so it could very well be a loose plug or solder joint at the plug. Used mirrors are cheap.
