Tahoe Broken Into...

A few weeks ago my 2007 Tahoe was broken into. Fortunately there was no structural damage to the car. The only evidence I could find of an entry point was the tailgate window; it was open, but just resting on the lock (in other words, it was not all the way open, it was as is if it was just unlocked but not opened up). The interesting thing was that the lock switch that locks the tailgate window was still engaged. Somehow the robber was able to open the window without unlocking or disengaging the window lock.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? I'd very much like to prevent this in the future. Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, no kids. And I definitely wasn't within range of my vehicle to accidently unlock the liftgate. But that's my point: the lift gate wasn't unlocked. If you unlock the tailgate window on your vehicle and open it all the way, take a look at the lock (where the metal bar on the window connects to the tailgate). You'll see that the lock is lowered (i.e. disengaged, unlocked). Now, if you take that lock and push it up (keeping the window open), you can "lock" the lock (it will now be in the "up" position). Try shutting the window now, and you'll find that it cannot be shut because the metal bar on the window hits the lock on the tailgate. That is how I found my Tahoe in the morning. Unless they unlocked the window somehow, then manually pushed the lock "up" (which I don't know why they would do), then they must have been able to unlock the window somehow without actually disengaging the lock.

Dam that sucks. I just recently had my tow hooks stolen from my kon while at a walmart parking lot. who the Fu** steals tow hooks?

Some people just looooove taking what isn't theirs. Sorry to hear that. Are they expensive to replace? (Towhooks?)

Yeah they stole my radio out of there (aftermarket GPS/DVD player). Also got my iPod. In the process, they broke the center bezel (the piece of trim that goes around the radio and AC controls. Is it best to get a new one from a dealership, or could I just order one from GM Parts Direct? I figure it's just a snap in piece, so I probably won't have to use a dealership. Any thoughts?

I noticed becuz I had washed the truck that morning and when I came home after wal-mart I was cleaning the bugs of the front bumper when I noticed. pisses me of just thinking about it lol.
