Welp I've been without a system since I got my table and now its tax time so I can afford to build one finally. This will be my first time building a box so I have plentybof questions. I plan on ordering the pioneer avh4300 double din. Haven't decided on subs or amp but I've always liked memphis products so I've thought about getting the 15-cm15d4. All I listen to.is rap. Dnt kno.what amp to push 2 of them. Also don't want to spend my whole tax check on the build since i have to split it with my wife. Lol. Don't kno whether to port or seal the box....don't kno if I should get an extra needed (I have a spare red top optima in the garage if needed) or just a cap... please give me some insight.

Btw. Only thing I have decided on is the h.u. subs are possibilities....

Also if I were to build an.amp rack on the top of the box how would I route the wires to make the install look professional? Only thing I can come up with a double layer or little wire compartment under the rack between the top of the box? Or would I route them inside the box? And I have read that its a good.idea to double the the front panel?

Thanks in advance

Or just one of the memphis c3 15s?

Get a Memphis mojo, either a new one or the old orange basket sound. Two would be over kill, but one quad voice coil in a ported box with about 1000-2500 watts to it would be plenty.

First off I do not recommend caps, so ditch that idea. Second whats your budget? Third I probably would go with a sealed box at first since this is your first time attempting to build a box although its not really that complicated to build a ported box. Also dont get too stuck on main stream brands because you can get better stuff just a different brand for cheaper since you gotta split those taxes with the wifey.

Well...I went to audio store today an think I've decided everything. Threw my budget out the window. Think im going to get two memphis c3 15s. 800w ems each. Two memphis pr.1000 amps. And attempt to build a slotted enclosure. Will run about $1500. Then still need my amp wire kit which I have found 0awg stinger kits on ebay for$ 120. And as far the install goes im still trying to decide where to mount amps, how to mount box, and need info on how to wire up subs to 1 ohm...

ditch the cap idea. Do the big 3 instead. if you arent familiar with it. here you go.

I personally wouldn't run memphis, you arent gonna get what you pay for. i would look into something more along the lines of sundown, DC, fi, DD, american bass....etc...

If all you listen to is rap, then definitely go with a ported enclosure. i dont know if you know but there is more to building a box than just slapping some wood together. you have to use calculators (unless you are able to do all the math on paper) and figure port area and tuning...

I also would recommend not building an amp rack on the enclosure because the vibration from the box will eventually take its toll on your amps, and rattle stuff lose inside. and in an SUV, always build the box sub facing up, port facing back towards the hatch, it has been prove over and over to perform best. and yes double baffle the box aswell.

Okay....so u guys are making me reconsider. Lookin at sundown 15s and fi q 15s. So what amp? Which setup? Budget is 1500 but don't wanna spend that much...will do the big 3 also. With the optima red top. Should I get an isolator?

you will NOT regret running some sa-15's... if you got two of them on a saz-1500 ( they could take more but this way you will be safe, and it will cost less ) an isolator isnt necessary unless you like to do a lot of demo'ing or showing off in parking lots.

they are extremely underrated. they will take 600-1000 each no problem.

yeah the sa-15s would be a very good choice. the saz 1500 would do good with those subs but id at least go with the saz 2000 and just set the gain low during the break-in period....that + big 3+the optima you already have= sex to the ears. if you can find some good used equipment you'd probably still have enough cash left to add a 4 channel and replace the door speakers. as far as mounting the amp/amps id go with putting them under the 2nd row seat and mount the optima either behind the enclosure or if there is room, underneath the seat with the amps.....not sure about the isolator but ive been running my system without it and i have 1 redtop starting batt and 2 batts behind the box with no problems. maybe someone here will chime in with a better explaination

Every time you double power you gain 3db (ignoring power compression), so going from 1000RMS to 1500RMS will gain you 1.5db, hardly noticeable unless you meter it. That being said, buy as much power as you can afford, it'll give you more options for upgrades down the road.
