steering wheel controls

anyone know how to remove the steering wheel controls all the lights are burnt out and gm told me u have to buy the hole thing u cant just replace the light how do i get them out of the wheel ???

They just snap in, so you can pry them out very carefully with a jewelers flat blade screwdriver or two. It helps to have the wheel removed from the vehicle. The buttons have VERY short wires connected to them. It is somewhat tedious work the first time you do it. You can usually find button sets on ebay.

Any concern with setting off the airbag? Never worked on one, but have always thought there was the possibility of setting it off. What a surprise that would be to have an airbag go off on you, out of the blue?

Just remove the fuse or take off the battery cable if you are worried about the air bag.
