Something's missing here

So I'm working on the rear interior door panels of my '05 Tahoe and noticed when taking them off there's not a wire pigtail connector for the interior courtesy door step light. Is that something they did away with since the 2002 models? Cuz my '02 LT has them and I'd like to have them on my '05 as well. Esp since I got a brand new 4-piece set of LED lights for them. Front doors both have them. Weird. But can someone please enlighten me on this? Or could this be a possible past owner modification?

No, my 04 tahoe has front ones but the rear is just pop out lenses that keep falling out.

Same; my '04 has reflectors in the rear doors, no lights. IIRC @Sam Harris' '03 Yukon had lights there; made me jealous.

I'm sure there is a way to add the harness and install the lights on the rear doors. If anyone has done it please inform.

rear door lamps were deleted after 2002
you would need to run a patch cable from the front thru the rear door boot to make it work

Omg... why did I already suspect that was the answer? Oh because GM doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason for a whole lot when it comes to engineering these things. I feel like they had about 100 engineers all working by themselves to come up with a part or section and they each had their own method of doing it. It's been a while for me, but when 1 door is opened all of the door lights come on right? Or are they each turned on independently with each door?

So u should be able to piggy back off of the door switch for each rear door I would think that would work.

I used to go to the junkyard a lot and it was always a disappointment to find a really nice interior or part of one only to realize it's not compatible
back then I used to hit up 4 pick-n-pulls that are all within an hour of me. I would be at all of them about 3-4 times a week
That was when there was still a few F body's coming in I could get $650 for a nice dash, or $400 for a nice center console, $200 for tail lights (each), $200-300 for a cluster cover, $500-600 for T-tops
I could pull a dash in 20 minutes, after you do it so many times it's like tying your shoe laces

I love f bodies. I had the same side hustle. You could literally take an entire car apart with a Philips screw driver and a metric socket set. I did it.

What?? Wow. Yeah let's remove the rear door lights where the kids sit or maybe people riding in the back who aren't real familiar with the truck that might want some light to get in/out. Does anyone else ever sit & wonder in amazement why GM did some of the stuff they did? If only I could have all those hours back sitting... Anyways, I didn't check for footwell lights or glove compartment. The hood light I wouldn't know cuz I bought the truck w/o one. Or the front clip. Or the motor... Sounds like I'm gonna be doing some of my own wiring for missing/deleted factory lights

that's probably correct I had my 00 and 03 silverado then we jumped to a 04 and then 05.
I sold the 03 to my sister and it does have the door lights

So in fact: they did away with the glove comp light/switch assy, foot well lights, and the rear door lights. Even tho the metal frame is still cut for the socket to snap into in the foot wells. So I went ahead and cut out all those sockets to put in the '05

there should still front footwell lights, they could be burnt out. I always changed mine to led or put a led light strip across the bottom of the dash.
but I could be wrong only way to tell is look under there. If not adding them is pretty simple just tie into the bcm dome light output
