So... what type of gas mileage do each of the engines get?

I tried searching for threads with this info, but couldn't find anything. I'm wondering what each of the engines will get as far as mpg... I'm mainly looking at the Tahoe/Yukon with the 4.8/5.3 and Yukon XL with the 6.0, but drove (and really liked) a Suburban 2500 with the 8.1 today, so I'm considering them as well... I think it'd be helpful to other prospective buyers to have all the engines and their gas mileages/power outputs all in one place as well (if possible)...

I've been driving my 2003 tahoe z71 with the 5.3 for two days now and have been getting 18 mpg based on 100 miles driven so far. 70 percent freeway. I know that is not enough track record but I had the same truck years ago and was consistent getting around 17 with mostly freeway and 15 city.

Of course weather makes a difference. In snow and using 4x4 you will get less.

But for everyday driving I'd say between 15 and 17

My 07 Tahoe with the 5.3 gets 14 city 16 highway

Seams a little low for an 07. Aren't those suppose to get better with the active fuel management. I figured the 07 and up would get like 18-20

I drove a 2015 model Tahoe that I rented from Michigan to Chicago. About a 400 mile trip. I averaged 19.7 mpg. Mostly freeway though

My 01 Tahoe gets around 14-15 in town. My first big trip with her will be this weekend, heading to Jacksonville for the Raiders game ;)

Probably driving habits lol, my aunts 07 Escalade got 18-19 around town and 22+ on the highway (depending on speed) when she was good but it got down to 8-10 mpg when she wanted to have some fun

The only ones I've got experience with are the 4.8 and the 5.3... the 4.8 seemed to get ~19-20 mpg (70% highway) on my commute and ~21-22 mpg on the interstate at 85-ish... the 5.3 got 16-ish on my commute, but I never got it on the interstate. What about the larger engines though? Anyone with the 6.0 or 8.1 that watches their mpg, or has a close estimate?

My 2006 Denali xl with the 6.0 is getting 14.6 around town right now according to my info center. I usually average about 19 when I go off the mountain and set my cruise control on the freeways, traffic allowing of course. And that's typically between 70 and 75mph on the freeway, where my cruise control is usually set.

Wow, 19 at 70-75? Is the dash computer telling you? Did they do something to the 2006 that they did not do to the 05? Mine is shipped with cold air intake, Magna flow, biggest one they make, I get 19 when I am between 45-50. 70-75, 16.

@Searay45db ,I reset the computer when I go off the hill to see what it does when I cruise the highways. The last time I drove freeways was a couple weeks ago going to Vegas out the 15. 75 steady almost the entire way and I averaged 19. But then again my xl was also empty. It was just me and a small suitcase so I wasn't hauling heavy weight which is also usually the case when I'm down off the mountain and driving freeways. I don't know that there's any under hood differences in the 2005 and 2006 models. But theres a lot that can affect gas mileage. Where you buy gas, what octane, what oil your running on, how often and how hard you step on the accelerator, it all affects mileage.

I have an 05 yukon with a blackbear 93 octane tune cai and a catback 3:42 gears with 275/55/20`s. Most often i travel to our property in central NY 150 miles from our house loaded with about 3-400 pounds of dogs and other stuff and i average 16.5 to 17 doing 70-75 but the whole way there is up and downhill. If i go to the jersey shore i average slightly over 20 because it`s mostly flat the whole way down. Around town i get around 14-14.5.
