I am on the lookout for good quality Snap On and Mac tools to buy and sell, all the time. Some sellers just don't get it that the SAE sockets and wrenches are just not as valuable as the metric sockets and wrenches. I have complete sets of SAE sockets and wrenches but they are lonely from not using. If you own or work on older vehicles, like Car Clubs, then the SAE tools do get used but with everyday vehicles, not so mush. My metric tools use is 95% of the time. Sometimes an SAE tool gets used because the size is a straight swap. 5/16=8mm.

I know a guy selling an upper and lower big cabinets Mac Tool boxes set. He wants too much money because he does not realize or refuses to accept, that the uppermost tool storage area on his top box is at 72" and the trend is 2 and 3 tier lower roll around cabinets with a built in work bench on top.

Anyone else notice this?

LOL, 4 1/2 hours later, you remembered the punchline.

I feel your pain.

There is a local guy that deals in nothing but Craftsman tools. He made me promise to let him have first look see and I texted him. He is out of town till Monday. I told him he can look when he gets back but that I would tell people at the forums they are for sale. He collects them and sells only a little. I know after he saw the pic, he wants them but he is now thinking about them and that will encourage him not to put me off for more than the weekend. I will sell to whoever wants them at the right price. Forum members or him.

I share your addiction, except less on the selling end of things. I do, however, have buckets full of overages and doubles. Primarily all Snap-on or older craftsman (USA built, some with other plant codes).

It took me a while to replace some missing sockets from my dad’s collection - all V or VV, a couple Flying V. The problem was that some of the older items were top knurled with double bands on the bottom. One above the stampings, one below. Others had only one band, or no band, or two bands with no knurling. Or had the top knurl, two bands…but had a different plant code date stamp on it. It was a learning curve.

I’m sure you’re familiar with:

Hello my name is Adam and I have a solution…or is it “a problem”? Either way I have a tool for it. All of my drawers look like this. This is my Snap-on tool box. Everything in it is the older underlined logo. Very few tools not from that era, besides hammers, which is 50/50 due to the plethora of Autobody hammers I own.

*So if you need something or are on the lookout, let me know.
