Hello. Passenger running board retracted then dropped. Happened sporadically thru the day today. I leaned down to check it out. Green fluid leaking by the rear hinge. Buttttt these things are electric though, right?!

I'm running errands and can't really get under it for a while till I get home and it might be too dark then, so figured I'd ask here what that might be.

Any help appreciated. Tks

Clarifying.. It didn't drop like gravity, freely. It dropped motorized, as though it hit an obstacle... which it isn't.

Stock coolant. Greenish yellow fluid at the rear hinge, but only traces. Also looks like it splashed on the frame a bit. The dark areas are wet from what appears to be that liquid. Second pic shows the bolt, but the greenish hue from the fluid on it doesn’t show well in the pic.

No wet spot under it, and nothing near the center seems wet as best I can see. Still not in a position to really get under it...

Ok so update.... appears it is coolant. Pics below. Couple of things....

A. I thought these trucks used Dexcool. And I thought Dexcool is orange.

B. I thought this truck had factory coolant, but it is green. I had no reason to doubt it was diff coolant, since it had 50k on it. I've only put about 5k on the truck. Apparently something ain't right somewhere.

C. So are the coolant lines below/ rear heater core easily replaceable? Where do they go to? If these have a rear heater core I can't find any info online. Just the previous 2 generations. Does anyone have a link and/or pics?

Thanks

They're annoying as hell to do, but not particularly difficult. If you've ever done trans cooler lines, it feels pretty similar. Not sure if the newer trucks are set up this way, but at least on my generation, there's a T fitting that has quick connect fittings on there. Disconnect the T, then plug the heater core lines directly into the front heater core. It'll buy you some time until you can get it fixed up properly

That being said, don't take this the wrong way, but I'd let someone else do it.
