What is the difference in shock #GM (85669840) and GM (85743838)? I can't find anywhere that tells me and I need to desperately change out my rear shocks on my 2016 Yukon SLT. It has air ride but not the more expensive magnetic ride. Thanks

  • GM 85669840: Built for the Increased Capacity Package (RPO code ACPR), often paired with 22-inch wheels and heavy-duty or increased capacity rear suspension setups.
  • GM 85743838: Built for the standard Smooth Ride Package (RPO code ACPY) with premium suspension
Check your RPO codes, and I'll bet that your shock is the first one (air ride).

@Joseph Garcia, thanks for replying. My RPO codes are only 3 letters long. I have a Z85 wheel RPO code which is for 18" rims but I have 20" factory rims on it. No ACPR or ACPY at all, unless it it is on the rim itself. The Z85 is supposed to be for increased capacity. I just don't want to get halfway in disassembly and realize I screwed up.
